#GoogleFail!

I get a picture messaged texted from my boy Rob about something to do with Google. Allegedly, he received the same text he sent me thinking it was some sort of chain mail someone made up for whatever reason. So he decided to do some research. He ends up finding out that it wasn't a joke after all. Apparently, when he searched on Google, he came out with the same results. So I did the same. Again, same results. I don't know what to say about this. I'm pretty shocked. Disappointed. Shaking my head at the nonsense that boggles my brain. I do not know how this even allowable. Who's in charge of programming? Who's in charge of the search engine? Someone has to be responsible. Someone should know what the hell is going on so that this nonsense can be resolved. Immediately. Take a look then try it out for yourself.

Check It ... SoulStice "Strange Kinda Love"

Peep this track from the homie SoulStice, Strange Kinda Love. This track is straight real talk! I applaud him for putting this track out and taking a not so "safe" stance as a hip-hop artist.

"As a Black man in America that's also part of an interracial marriage, I've experienced my share of prejudice and bigotry. We've come far on issues of race, but still have a ways to go. However, at this stage in the game, I feel like we've got even farther to go on issues relating to same-sex relationships and marriages. Love is love...we should have gotten that, if nothing else, from the musical legacies of artists like Michael and Stevie. It's not a "safe" move for a hip hop artist to show this kind of support for the GLBT community. But as an artist, I feel like it's my job to challenge the status quo, not just play into it or step around it. To me, being revolutionary means fighting not just for you and yours but for any community suffering injustice." - SoulStice

What I'm Watching ... J.J. Brown "GENDER BENDER" feat. Eternia & Miz Metro

New music from J.J. Brown featuring Eternia and Miz Metro. You already know I think Eternia is dope (we have countless entries on the blog following Eternia's Road to Release). Check out the message below from Eternia and the video (which is dope)

Hola from Eternia! :-D

I've been having a lot of fun doing some collaborative work recently, while we shop for a label home for my album "AT LAST" w/ MoSS. A few weeks ago we shot this music video for J.J. Brown's lead single "GENDER BENDER" featuring myself & Miz Metro, off of his forthcoming album "Connect the Dots". The song is a playful look at gender roles in Hip Hop and on the road, and the video was even more fun to make than it looks! I love these guys. J.J.'s first solo album also features Gym Class Hero's frontman Travis McCoy, rap legend Craig G., Reef the Lost Cauze, Poison Pen, Louis Logic, Block McCloud, Nola Darling & more! In Stores Nov. 10, 2009!

WE NEED MORE SMILES IN HIP HOP! :-D

Caught it in the inbox ...

My inbox is ALWAYS FULL. It sometimes takes me a few days to get through the entire thing (while I'm writing this entry, I still have 30 unread messages). There are often gems among the many emails. Check out these three joints from my inbox. Enjoy.

Check out KMC (Knowledge Moves Constantly), Just Thoughts. Definitely a different sound and I like it. It's kind of a spoken word type feel. I like spoken word. I dig it. Check it out.

Just Thoughts

Check the track from Focus featuring Ariel Sanders, The Jealous Proposal, Produced by Ritchcraft. It's got a cool, jazzy feel to it. The concept: Ariel is hip hop and Focus is an MC who wants to have hip hop all for himself.

Epiphany is putting the finishing touches on his RESPECT mixtape series. RESPECT will be released as four "mini-mixtapes" with 6-8 tracks each that will be accompanied with audio/visuals related to four different themes that Piph feels people need to respect. This 5 Dollas joint however won't be on his upcoming mixtape series but gives you a feel for his sound. It's a pretty chill track. Check it.

Download ... Chris Read Presents "The LIttle Brother Show"

A new project from Chris Read, The Little Brother Show. Check the message below from Chris Read about the project.

Ever since putting out the Diary Volume 1.5 remix tape earlier this year, I've been wanting to do another remix tape with a more current feel. Whilst there's been something of a trend for producers remixing entire albums in the past few years, the truth is that there's a very small number of modern hip hop acts who've genuinely inspired me, let alone ones that have published acapella albums. Little Brother, on the other hand, impress me consistently and are one of the few contemporary hip hop acts who I always check for. So I gathered together the limited acapellas that I have obtained over the years and used them (along with a few instrumental skits) to produce this 9 track remix EP. Much like Diary Volume 1.5, I've tried to keep the style of beats appropriate to the age the original tracks, although it's all post-2003 material so in truth anything goes. The more recent tracks are a pretty accurate reflection of where my beat making sits right now.

I think it's probably pretty clear from what I've said already, but for the avoidance of doubt, I should probably add that this is not an official Little Brother mixtape or release. It was born simply out of my search for some quality vocals to put together a coherent sounding EP and perhaps more importantly my being a fan of Little Brother. I sincerely hope it's received that way. Anyway, enough from me - I hope you enjoy the show!

#MusicMonday ... Brother Ali - "Brothers & Sisters/The Preacher"

Brother Ali's new album Us is dope! I vibe off the joint at least once per day and The Preacher is one of my favorite tracks on the album! But I felt like I couldn't give you The Preacher without the Brothers & Sisters intro. So, I figured I'd throw 'em up for Music Monday! Happy Monday and enjoy!
