Music Monday - Rhymefest "Pulls Me Backs"
On Friday I traveled across most of NY into Connecticut to visit family for a few days. Over the 12 hour voyage I found myself listening to Rhymefest's Manual among other things (SIDEBAR: if radio played half of the music I listened to over the trip, it would be a much better world). I don't need to tell you much about the Manual because hopefully you already have it! I picked Pulls Me Back as the Music Monday track plus I added Tender Thug, because it's funny as hell! Happy Monday and enjoy!

"I Said, I'm Going to Kick his Assk (ass) ..."
No doubt, the video is funny. But the mom who taped it should be smacked for leaking it to the world on YouTube. I'm still laughing however. Hey, if you're 3-years-old and a monster comes out, what are you going to do? Enjoy.

MOS DEF proposes "The Battle in New Orleans"
So I get a message from @OneAndOnlyKema on twitter hitting me up on the info about MOS DEF talking about doing a friendly competition styled battle in New Orleans. According to this YouTube video (shout out to @Knowledgium for posting the link), he was previously recorded candidly and unknowing the video would get out, speaking on a few artists that proclaim that they're the greatest rapper alive. He spoke on one artist in particular. That artist is Jay-Z. His point is that he doesn't see much sense in calling yourself the greatest without really ever having to defend that claim. Especially when a Slick Rick who, quoting Mos Def, is still very alive and well, and Rakim as well. He doesn't like the fact that someone in his circle leaked the video but at the same time, he's not backing out.
It seems that in all honesty, he's just defending some of the pioneers that are still able to put it down on the mic. No beef. And in a friendly competition to showcase these MCs talents, they can get a chance to prove their claim. Personally, I think it's a very, very great idea and would probably do so much good for hip hop. Maybe with the state of music this game is in, some of these artists should consider it. Tell me you wouldn't watch a battle featuring Morgan State vs Grambling for the Battle of the Bands, Kid Capri vs Biz Markie for DJs, Kanye vs Swizz for the Battle of the Beats, the Battle Royal is a 5 man team which he says he'd be a captain for that consist of Black Thought, Jay Electronica, MF Doom, Nas, and Jay-Z could put his team together for a $10 million dollar pot. Why would you turn that down? Unless.........you can't back it up.
Regardless, I should start campaigning to get this event started. Somehow. Someway. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and marking my calendar! You ready? The BOOGIE MAN is! Haha.

Caught this on twitter! Hilarious. It takes the Lil Dez baby sitting commercial to another level. It was remixed by Jersey Chaser. It's funny. Enjoy.

THE 5th ANNUAL BROOKLYN HIP-HOP FESTIVAL
I received info a few weeks back on Brooklyn Bodega's Twitter page about a festival they're throwing for the 5th year. Road to Release Day: Eternia & MoSS: "AT LAST"
We featured Eternia on the blog a while back! The moment we landed on her MySpace page, we knew she was DOPE!! She's been on her grind for a while, but recently completed her project with producer MoSS -- Eternia & MoSS: "AT LAST". Now they're on the road to shopping for a record deal, promoting the album and countdown to the release date and she's taking fans along for the ride. She'll be dropping two videos monthly. We'll definitely be keeping tabs and featuring her on the blog! Definitely trying to support the grassroots movement and good music!
This first video is an introduction. Respect her sense of humor cause I laughed hard at the mask she's wearing. Nothing funny about those rhymes though. She's got a dope personality.
Shout to DJ SAV*ONE and www.theundergroundcomeup.com for the link and email!
Check her blog below and first video.
From Eternia's MySpace Blog:
It's finally done.
I delivered our album master & album artwork to the Ontario Arts Council this past Monday June 1st. The OAC was our main 'investor' for the project, and we were working towards their deadline over the last year and a half. I suppose I should be breathing a sigh of relief, right? The album is finally finished... At Last!
But who am I kidding... the work is really just beginning.
We still have to shop the album to record labels, and Lord Willing find a deal that is the lesser of countless evils. Once those meetings are over, and a contract finalized, we have to set a release date. Then we have to promote the hell outta our new album for 4 months leading up to that date. I'm talkin radio, live shows, blogs, press, reviews, youtube videos, corny "look who eternia was caught kissing!" publicist propaganda... *LOL*.. I jest, I jest. But u get the idea :-). And all that to say, its really when the album drops that we'll know where we're at. When YOU GUYS, the people that really matter, get to tell us what YOU think. We Made This Album for You.
So that's the day I am counting down to. Because that's what trully matters.
So, over the next 6 months I invite you to come along on a journey with MoSS and I: the Road to Release Day.
I'm going to be doing what I do best: no holds barred video, photos & text coverage of our experience. This is the one place you will get an exclusive backstage pass to my life (LOL - that just sounds so self-important - I can't help but laugh at myself). How bout this: this is the one place you will get The Truth.
I can't wait for the future to unfold. Thank you guys for rollin' with me.
For now, I formerly introduce to you the new SuperGroup:
Eternia & MoSS : At Last.
Stay tuned,
Me.(e)
