Interview: Miss Special x BJ The Chicago Kid
I'm not gonna front and say I didn't sleep on BJ The Chicago Kid. Even after hearing him on hook after hook, I still didn't have his project. But then one day, I was like, shit, I just need to get that. I did. After running through it for the first time, I was kind of pissed I slept on it for so long. Pineapple Now-Laters is one of the strongest overall projects released this year and definitely one of the best R&B/Soul joints. If you aren't up on it, don't make the mistake I did and sleep any longer. Anyway, our good friend Miss Special caught up with BJ down at A3C. Peep their interview up top.
While at A3C I got to chat with BJ The Chicago Kid again about his upcoming collaborations and album on Motown Records. He says that a Jill Scott collaboration will happen and describes what it will be like. He also says that a Jojo song is in the works they just both need to find the right time and the right vibe. He also speaks about an upcoming track with Chuck Inglish that he's waiting for Chuck to release but says it's so hot he might have to steal it if it's not released soon enough. He also speaks about opening up for Anthony Hamilton and reminisces about hearing Hamilton's album for the first time. Additionally, he talks about the highlight of his live show and working on tracks to release before his Motown Records album.(via @MiSS1SPECiAL)

NEW RELEASE: Rome Clientel "The Empire 2"
Fresh project. Enjoy.
At long last, I'm proud to share with you Rome Clientel's EP, The Empire 2: The Battlegrounds EP. Presented by the excellent folks at DJ Booth, this project features Rav P, Alias, Devon Wright, and Reks, with production coming from ATG, Kount Fif (of the Swashbucklers), Chaundon and the Gemstones, Parks, and Mr. Scott. The Battlegrounds represents the metaphorical battle an aspiring MC must wage to eventually carve his or her niche in an industry now flooded with rappers galore and not enough opportunities to shine and stand out.via @dharmicX

Download: Nix - "The Nixtape" (@EmceeNix)
Born in Broken Hill, raised in North-West Sydney & currently resides in Canberra, Nix is an emcee from Australia that's been in love with the genre of Hip-Hop ever since he heard Ghostface Killah's open verse on "Bring The Ruckus". Dude hit us up with this mixtape and the simple fact that it was on Bancamp made it that much easier for me to want to check it out. So I hit play and right from jump, had me noddin' to the music. This cat is definitely trying to do something with this. I respect his hard work on trying to give listeners a really good product. I can vouch for this joint, pretty much from beginning to end. All you gotta do is hit play to find out.
With cover art by Jim Mahfood (Ziggy Marley, Clerks, Community, Felt, MF Grimm) and guest apperances from Percee P, Illmaculate, Losty, Tycotic, LHA and more!
