Interview: Miss Special x Netta Brielle

My sis Miss Special is currently feeling under the weather but she grinds on, processing some of the interviews from her trip to ATL for A3C. The first comes from Netta Brielle, as the two catch up considering their Bay area connection. Enjoy the interview and oh, feel better madam Special.
While in Atlanta for A3C Miss Special got the chance to catch up with good friend of Special Sundays Radio Show and recent L7/Harrell Records/Atlantic Records signee; Netta Brielle. The two spoke about the change from the Bay to ATL, what she's been up to, reminisce on her journey and speak about what's next for her, including an EP before the album.

NEW RELEASE: Theo Martins "Wonderland"

I've been a fan of Theo Martins since 2010 when he released his EP You Can't Do That On Television. After that EP, I've featured his tunes on the site a gang of times but its been a while. Then a few weeks back he dropped me an email asking if I'd like to take part in an online listening session for his new project. I didn't hesitate to accept the invitation. And there I found myself lost in Wonderland, the debut project from the Cali based by way of Rhode Island emcee. Filled with incredible musicality, Theo calls this the story of a boy in pursuit of the bigger things in life and the things he loses through his journey. Indeed it is. I dig it. Enjoy the music. Chea!

What I'm Watching: Emilio Rojas "Right To Stay"

I saw this cat perform on the iHip Hop DX at the A3C Hip Hop Festival this year and since he was mad dope, I did a little digging to find more of his stuff. The videos he has done have been f-awesome, but his 2011 "Right To Stay" was a particular favorite. Speaking on the immigration laws in Arizona, Emilio Rojas brings to the forefront some painful topics that Latinos and other ethnic groups have to deal with. Not necessarily enjoyable to watch, but it definitely makes you think... Peep it below.

Download: Euro League - "Cloud9 : Annunaki Rap"

Euro League hit me up with a link before he released "Cloud9 : Annunaki Rap" a few days ago and it's been in my rotation on and off since. I'm loving the sound on this project as well as his flow and how he goes through story after story accompanying the production seamlessly. Cloud9 was a great choice of a word to use for how I sort of felt while listening to this 6 track project. The fact that it's also a free project is just another plus to what Euro League does here. This joint is yet another example of how folks do have an actual choice in getting quality music and not allowing themselves to be force fed music that doesn't step up to the quality plate. Definitely hit the play and then the download and then the share!

Zack de la Rouda "Young, Wild and Free"

Zack de la Rouda takes on the Wiz Khalifa instrumental for his upcoming project Rewild Or Die, which outside of this track features a gang of original production. I definitely dig the vibe of Young, Wild and Free. Hit play and enjoy.

Rome Clientel "You Want War"

"You Want War" is the third and final leak off The Empire 2: The Battlegrounds EP, sponsored by DJ Booth. Produced by Parks (the engineer over at HeadQuarterz studios) this is a much more aggressive and bellicose track than we've previously heard from Rome, fitting the theme of the project and contrasting with the previous record which featured Reks. Be on the lookout for The Empire 2: The Battlegrounds EP, dropping on Tuesday, October 16th.

JR Bull x Ma$on Highlife x BLAX "Tipping Point"

I woke up at 1:00 this morning to get ready for work and had a missed call and text from the homie BLAX. He was excited. By the time I heard Tipping Point, I knew the just over seven minute track had come from a heck of a session, if you know what I mean. Ha! Another banger from the Trillwaukee recent high school grad Imani Ma$on aka Ma$on Highlife. She brings along BLAX and JR Bull for Tipping Point, over the Mike Jones Still Tippin instrumental. Yeah, we're in for a hell of a ride as we prep her debut mixtape and album. In the meantime, enjoy the music.
