Interview: Miss Special x YC The Cynic & Yuri Beats

While in Brooklyn two weeks ago, OC Supreme and I caught up with Miss Special, meeting our West Coast ally for the first time. She's just as cool in person. Having moved out East for an internship, she hasn't slowed down one bit. Peep her latest interview with YC The Cynic and Yuri Beats. Chea!
Miss Special caught up with YC The Cynic and Yuri Beats at the release party for their project “Good Morning, Midnight”.

The two gave hilariously different versions of how they met and decided to work together. "I was walking the desert and the moment I thought there was no human life form I came across Yuri Beats and it was the most amazing experience ever because he had water and I was like wow, we should make music" says YC The Cynic. Yuri Beats followed up by telling a slightly different version about how he saw YC The Cynic perform at South Paw, to which YC The Cynic responds "the stories have to match bro".

The two remarked on a comment made that their project was "like Drake, Kanye and The Pharcyde had a baby. Then YC raised it and released an album."

The two also spoke about their upcoming plans including Yuri Beats working on Nitty Scott MC's "Boombox Diaries Volume 1", as well as, Max Burgundy and eXquire and YC The Cynic's debut album "GNK".

We all have a journey. Kayohes speaks on his. Enjoy the track and visuals.

@KirbyLauryen's A Song A Day: Day 201 & 202

For the first 200 days of Kirby's A Song A Day Series she was writing a song for you daily. Now she's taking that a step further and writing songs specific to her fans based on suggestions, really challenging herself and her songwriting abilities. I dig it. Peep day 201 and 202 of her fan appreciation week.

Mikey D was proclaimed “best MC in the world” after defeating Melle Mel & many others round by round at the New Music Seminar in 1988. Mr. Freeze, aka Chuck Freeze, represents the Soundview Houses of the South Bronx, NYC. His full crew was “DJ Jazzy Jay, DJ Red Alert & The Jazzy Five MCs with DJ Afrika Bambaataa”. The Jazzy Five MC’s current members are Mr. Freeze, the Master Ice, AJ Les, the Master Dee, Master Bee, & newest member Mikey D. The group, founded by MC Sundance in the mid 1970’s, was well known for recording the first hip hop single on Tommy Boy Records in 1981 called “Jazzy Sensation”.

TMB x The SoulStice Presents: Rob Yung "Sailing NOT Selling (Soulmix)"

The homie Rob Yung of The SoulStice is teaming up with TMB to drop some new music. Can't be mad at that. Ha! Peep the first track, Sailing NOT Selling. Enjoy. Chea!
"Becoming a new resident of NYC, Rob Yung faces the struggles of surviving on his own having left all his family and friends behind in Florida. He goes over an inspiring Jhene Aiko song and tells how no matter how difficult things may get, he'd rather keep struggling than become another sell-out in the industry."
