@KirbyLauryen's A Song A Day: Day 201 & 202
For the first 200 days of Kirby's A Song A Day Series she was writing a song for you daily. Now she's taking that a step further and writing songs specific to her fans based on suggestions, really challenging herself and her songwriting abilities. I dig it. Peep day 201 and 202 of her fan appreciation week.

EVENT: MIC ON DECK Presents: M.I.C. & Tapedeck 1’s B-Day Bash Ft Mikey D of Main Source & Mr. Freeze of The Jazzy Five MCs
Hartford, CT – July 27, 2012 – MIC ON DECK Entertainment’s “Unified Hip Hop” series will be celebrating the birthdays of MIC ON DECK’s own Tapedeck 1 & M.I.C. at Sully’s Pub, located at 2071 Park Street in downtown Hartford, CT. The featured artists of the night are Mikey D of Main Source and Mr. Freeze of The Jazzy Five MCs. The show will continue to focus on bringing together the hip hop elements, the old school with the new, and unifying our hip hop community for a very positive movement. It will feature all nine elements of hip hop, involving some of the area’s best underground hip hop artists, DJ’s, graffiti artists, b-boys, beatboxers, & teachers of the fifth element.
Queens, NYC native Mikey D is best known as an NYC battle legend, his work alongside the L.A. Posse and as the lead emcee of Main Source alongside Sir Scratch & K-Cut, as Mike replaced Large Professor in 1994. Mikey D was proclaimed “best MC in the world” after defeating Melle Mel & many others round by round at the New Music Seminar in 1988. Mr. Freeze, aka Chuck Freeze, represents the Soundview Houses of the South Bronx, NYC. His full crew was “DJ Jazzy Jay, DJ Red Alert & The Jazzy Five MCs with DJ Afrika Bambaataa”. The Jazzy Five MC’s current members are Mr. Freeze, the Master Ice, AJ Les, the Master Dee, Master Bee, & newest member Mikey D. The group, founded by MC Sundance in the mid 1970’s, was well known for recording the first hip hop single on Tommy Boy Records in 1981 called “Jazzy Sensation”.
The show will be hosted by Self Suffice, and features music by DJ Sherm Larock. There are going to be live performances by Mikey D, Mr. Freeze, Asylum Lifetime, Rockoleone ft. DJ Stress, Bad For Business (Dia the Limbless MC and Tapedeck 1), Mully ft Con-Man & Frank White presenting his new group Bangfield. There will be a live b-boy jam featuring breaker crew Zulu Bratz 860, and a live graffiti exhibition by Mufasa RKG of Bucket Fresh Studios. TMB x The SoulStice Presents: Rob Yung "Sailing NOT Selling (Soulmix)"
The homie Rob Yung of The SoulStice is teaming up with TMB to drop some new music. Can't be mad at that. Ha! Peep the first track, Sailing NOT Selling. Enjoy. Chea!
"Becoming a new resident of NYC, Rob Yung faces the struggles of surviving on his own having left all his family and friends behind in Florida. He goes over an inspiring Jhene Aiko song and tells how no matter how difficult things may get, he'd rather keep struggling than become another sell-out in the industry."
