OC Supreme Presents: "Stars & Slow Jams" (Mixtape)
Today I was listening to random music I had on my phone and I happened to stop on a playlist I made a while back when I spent time at Atlantic City for a nice, relaxing weekend and thought to myself "Why not put it together, design a cover, and throw it out there for anyone that might want it?" So that's what this is. It doesn't really have anything to do with Valentine's Day being around the corner but the coincidence doesn't hurt. Download, listen, enjoy, share, and tell all your friends.

Download: Mr. Ivory Snow - "Sex After Smoking" (Free)
Mr. Ivory Snow finally released the "Sex After Smoking" album after a few singles were released and it took me a minute to get to it considering the full time job issue. Haha. I sort of knew what to expect judging by the singles he released prior to it and from speaking to him about his musical tastes. I knew the guy had some talent and skills on the mic. I knew he was meticulous about his engineering, producing, overall creating this album. But after all was said and done and after about 4-5 full listens, it pretty much exceeded my expectations. I really dig Mr. Ivory's skills on the mic, his production choices, and even the amateur graphic designer in me digs the cover art to the album as well.
So many tracks hit the ears like a hypnotic, rhythmic trance putting me into a focus that allows me to take the lyrics in word after word, bar after bar, track after track. I can't help but hit the repeat button a few times just to absorb the tracks a little longer. But that's not to say that there aren't a few misses for me on "Sex After Smoking". Tracks like "Up And Away (Feat. Reem Dollasz & Yung Truth)", "Silver Thunderbird (Dot Rising Above)", and "Buss It Open" don't catch my attention musically but that doesn't mean other folks won't think it's not dope. With 20 tracks total, 3-4 songs won't leave bad taste in my mouth considering how good them other tracks are.
I spoke with Mr. Ivory Snow about his albums. Check out what he had to say after the jump.
What I'm Watcning: PHONTE - "The Good Fight" (Directed by Kenneth Price)
A lot of videos have been put out recently. Dope videos to dope tracks. Phonte releases "The Good Fight" and coincidentally, after I've been talking about my job. Who doesn't complain about their job, right?! The struggle between doing what makes you happy and what pays your bills seems to be never ending but if we can get a job that does both, we'd hit the jackpot. Love how this track was directed in this video. I know most can definitely relate to it. Check it.

What I'm Watching: DTMD - "Raw" (feat. Godly MC, Kev Brown)
Off their debut album "Makin' Dollas" that dropped late in 2011 on Mello Music Group, DTMD drops the visuals to one of their favorite tracks. "Raw" is a dope ass track. Production is sick and Toine show and proves on the mic with no effort. Godly MC and Kev Brown comes through on the track and both don't disappoint. Check it.

What I'm Watching: @SidSriram - "For All We Know" (original by Donny Hathaway) Dir. by @ImArthurJohnson
Sid Sriram. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sid earned my respect a long time ago. He is probably, hands down, the number 1 artist I've enjoyed discovering the most over the past 12 months. After releasing multiple covers and easily outshining the original artist as well as putting out his own EP Be Easy; The Acoustic Sessions, Sriram has yet again impressed me with probably his best and most heartfelt cover ever done; one of my favorites from Donny Hathaway, "For All We Know."
It's simple. Not overstated. Purely beautiful, raw and passionate. So, not only does he have my respect, he has become, for me, one of the most appreciated artists I've ever heard. Well done, my friend.
Enjoy.

SONY told her to quit college, and loose weight.
Sean Combs said she should calm down her lyrics...
In an industry heavily influenced by masculinity, Jass Bianchi steps up to the plate. Her Debut Album H.E.R. is in response to legendary Chicago based rapper Common's 1994 hit "I used to love H.E.R."
This album will showcase the dexterity, beauty, and point of view of women both universally and within the realm of the hip-hop industry.
Your donation will be used to provide the proper mixing & mastering, recording, and live instrumentation needed to make the vision possible.
Both men and women often complain about the false representation/selective representation of women in the hip-hop industry. Now is your chance to change that.
