What I'm Watching: John Graham "Dear Diary" feat. Esha J. (Prod. by Shade Cobain)
"The city of Philadelphia serves as the canvass for this vivid painting in motion. We all have private thoughts that the world may not understand, but there's always someone else out there who truly gets it!"
The homie John Graham delivers up the first set of visuals for his latest project Success In Retrograde EP. Dear Diary takes you through his writing process, which is always an interesting side to see in an emcee. Definitely a cool cut. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

ScienZe x King I Divine "Enjoy Tonight"
I first came across King I Divine's production through BLCTXT. I became a fan of his work. And I've long been a supporter and fan of ScienZe. So it's dope to see them both collaborating on an EP together, having worked on tracks in the past. Enjoy Tonight is the first single off the upcoming Divine ScienZe due out early March. This joint is solid. Hit play and enjoy and look for more music from them soon. Chea!

Jimmy The Bang? "Loop Playback"
e.d.g.e. is one of my favorite emcees. And he's a cool dude too. Just recently he pulled together a collection of some cuts he 'loop technician'd." I'll pretend like that is actually a word as we jump into this Loop Playback project from what you could call e.d.g.e.'s alter ego Jimmy The Bang? Enjoy.
Via e.d.g.e.:
Aside from rhyming, I often make beats on the side...I wouldn't call myself a producer, or even a beatmaker though. The reason being, most of my work consists of repeated 4-bar loops, more often than not without basslines! So I'd prefer to call myself a "Loop Technician", hence the title "Loop Playback". My "Loop Technician" name has always been Jimmy The Bang? (the question mark is a rhetorical one)... Either way, enjoy my collection of loops that I placed in chronological order (Early Evening was created in 2005 and Sleep Pattern in 2010), and feel free to download them. Most of them have been used for my own songs though, so if any MC's want to use them, mixtapes are fine.

What I'm Watching: ARTZ "Public Enemy #1"
"Public enemy N0.1 was inspired by the politics of the music industry, even though I am a passionate artist throughout my journey of building a foundation for my music career I crossed paths with what I like to call 'industry vultures.'"
Cool video from ARTZ. Enjoy.

Interview: Miss Special x Exile
Our West Coast ally Miss Special (or Miss Interview around these parts) caught up with Exile and talked about The Ecology with Fashawn, new Emanon project, Jay Electronica, Miguel and more. Another solid interview. Hit play and enjoy.
Last week before his show at 330 Ritch with Blu, I got to chat with one of my favorite producers, Exile. We spoke about the craziest thing he ever sampled, his second album with Fashawn "The Ecology", a new project as Emanon with Aloe Blacc and a Dag Savage project (including a free mixtape beforehand). We also spoke about working early with Miguel, his phone call with Jay Electronica, and his fascination with the radio.(via @MiSS1SPECiAL)

Support Melissa Czarnik's next Album "Non Merci"
I have long been a fan of Melissa Czarnik. And for a while now, a friend of the Milwaukee emcee/poet. In the world of the Internets and just online communications, Melissa is one of those rare folks that I know off line. She's a great person too. We had a discussion last year about the possibility of an artist residency. I'm happy that panned out for her. Now she's asking for your support to help make her next album, Non Merci, while in France. It's a huge opportunity for her to focus solely on the creation of new music. I believe in supporting good people. So, support if you can too. And with that, I'll let her take it from here.
I wanted to let you know about this crowd funding campaign to help make my next album, Non Merci in France. Yes, France! I have been accepted into an artist residency at the Camac Centre D'Art in Marnay-sur-Seine (about an hour from Paris). With help from individuals like you I'll have the opportunity to spend two months (April & May) at the residency focusing solely on creation. As an artist, this is the kind of thing one only dreams about! And here we are!Contribute today (click here)
Each level of support ranging from $10-$500 will guarantee a pre-release copy of the album (for you), due to be released summer 2012! Plus, you can go to sleep at night knowing that you made a friend, fellow woman, artist, AmeriCorps Alumna and poet's dream come true!
PEACE
Melissa

What I'm Watching: Mad Flows "Fo' Leaf" (Cypher Cyndicate Posse Cut) feat. TASK1ne, Konkwest, Chuuwee, and Lifted
"The mad rapper, the mad bloggers know I kill shit ..."
Not sure if that Chuuwee line was directed at TMB but we do know these Sac rappers are killing shit. And have been killing shit. When Mad Flows sent me this track a few weeks back I thought it was an incredible joint and really showcased some of the talent coming out of Sacramento. Featuring (in order of appearance) Task1ne, Mad Flows, Konkwest, Chuuwee and Lifted, "Fo' Leaf" is a solid posse cut. Pay attention. Enjoy. Chea!
