What I'm Watching: BigStat "Pain" feat. Jordan Meyer
"I made this song in memory of my mother who unfortunately paid the ultimate price as a victim to domestic violence. I joined forces with the C.onnecticut C.oalition A.gainst D.omestic V.iolence to raise awareness against this growing epidemic." -STAT
A few days ago I posted up the trailer to this video from BigStat off of his upcoming project Heart of a Lion. As mentioned, the new vid is in memory of his mother, who was a victim of domestic violence, and was unfortunately murdered as a result. BigStat is holding a fundraiser tonight with the Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Hartford, Connecticut, where they'll be premiering the video. The vid is deep and very heartfelt. Respect to Stat for sharing and shedding a light on a serious issue in today's society. Salute.

We also spoke about his newest release "Cold Day In Hell", including the features on it, his EP "Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away" with Statik Selektah, remixing Random Axe's "Chewbaca" and what's next for him.

Download ... MacGuyver - "The Nostalgia Tape"
So you're just gonna start the first track, the Intro track, on your mixtape with "The Roots - Act Too (Love of My Life) in the background while you have some of the all time dopest lyricists in my era of loving the genre speak about when they first fell in love with Hip-Hop right off the bat?!?! I see you, MacGuyver. I see you and I'm listening. With the volume UP!
MacGuyver goes through a series of some classic production he uses to flow over skillfully and at times effortlessly. As much as we as fans can get tired of hearing folks rap over beats we've heard over and over, this time feels to be different. I might have to chalk it to the actual instrumentals he used. They're a collection of instrumentals from some of my favorite tracks in Hip-Hop in my life.
He goes in track after track about a numerous of topics related to his life and this Hip-Hop music he's putting his foot right into. He definitely handles his own throughout the mixtape with only three tracks having a feature. I can honestly say I enjoyed this mixtape thoroughly and it brought back some of that good feeling I used to get when I listened to the original tracks back then. Guess that's why this project is perfectly titled "The Nostalgia Tape".
Check out "Respiration" off the mixtape and be sure to download the entire album after. It's free!!!

Mr. Ivory Snow - "Funny How Love Dies II" (Prod. DJ Harrison)
I know about Mr. Ivory Snow. Seen him perform a few times. I dig the guy's character, work ethic, and style of music. I've been trying to keep an eye out and ear open for his music whenever he drops something over the internet. For the most part, I've been able to hear some good music from him, especially of lately. This new joint is no different. Here at TMB, we do this out of love so if we don't like it, we don't like it. And we may not necessarily like everything from the same artist, so in turn, we won't post everything from the same artist. But we'll post what we do like.
This joint here, I like. Not a big fan of the chorus and would've rather heard someone different singing it but I'm not completely against it. But according to him, he says the album version will have someone singing that hook and that he wanted to release it that way for now. I can understand being anxious to let the world here your music. No doubt. The actual track is a dope one. I like the wittiness in his lyricism and the production is smooth as hell. Songs like this one makes it easier for me to continue checking for Mr. Ivory Snow. He's a talented individual that sounds like he's getting better and better. Take a listen.
"Why won't you let me rock for Pete sake. / reminiscing over you and all the mistakes. / Ass is kicked out. You feeling like Eastbay. / I told her pack her shit like she from Green Bay."

Iggy Azalea Uses Pu$$y in My World, But I'm Still on The Fence
Her track Pu$$y is what first caught my attention. Then the next track I heard lost it. And so, I sit on the fence about the 21-year-old Australian female rapper Iggy Azalea.
The Internets is buzzing and everyone is asking the same question, is she raps next sensation. I say later for the titles. Then immediately folks will draw the line between Kreayshawn and Iggy (probably because of their complexion). Nah, I won't do that either. Why? Because Iggy is better. By far. She's however riding that same wave of internet fame like Kreayshawn, racking up a gang of twitter followers and youtube hits, and creating a buzz online, almost forcing you to take notice.
In a track like Pu$$y, the beat is hypnotic and her flow brings this unique edge, creating a sound all her own. Not since Tyler, The Creator and my homie Rob Roy (and a handful of others) have I felt that uniqueness that I feel in Iggy's cadence. Sure, there are many rap folks whose music I enjoy but every so often I'm truly captivated by a sound.
But yet, here I am, still on that fence.
Ludacris "Bada Boom"
"Ya'll some duplicate, rap cloning niggas. I manufacture you hoes, put on your make-up bitch ..."
Definitely not my style to post beef tracks but Ludacris got my hyped. Remember how Common went off in Sweet? Yeah, that's what Luda did on Bada Boom. Sheesh. Off of his new mixtape 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time, word is the track takes aim at some backhanded comments from Drake and Big Sean. Yeah, good luck with coming for Luda. Ha!

A majority of the project is laced with beats from Canadian producer ENG and features some solid verses from Sean Boog, Keno, Haz Solo and others. What I'm Watching: Nitty Scott, MC "Tell Somebody"
Nitty Scott, MC brings this genuine old school feel to her music, and I just feel the need to tell somebody. Ha! Nitty's stock has constantly been rising since her appearance in one of the cyphers on this years' BET Hip-Hop Awards but she had been maintaining a buzz well before then. Yesterday she dropped the Conor Shillen of One Forest Films directed video for Tell Somebody featuring Mike Maven. I definitely dig the style in which the video was shot and the candid energy featured throughout. Fresh. Tell Somebody is one of the solid cuts off of her EP Doobies x Popsicle Sticks. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!
