Hip-Hop Breakfast Ep 89

I couldn't think of any other way to start this EP but with a Heavy D track. Thanks to Statik Selektah for serving up the fresh Nothin' But Love/T.R.O.Y. blend. Heavy D’s music meant a lot to my early Hip-Hop years. He was one of my early favorites. So, I had to set off EP 89 with the Overweight Lover. Also on this EP of music featured on RefinedHype and DJBooth this week is the new cut from ScienZe, the killer track from DMP and a track from Slim The Mobster's new project that dropped over at DJBooth this week ... and a lot of other dope stuff in between. What I'm Watching: The Cranberry Show - Paranormal Karaoke (1.1.12)

I typically stay away from trailers for projects but when they're creative I almost feel obligated to share. Milwaukee's The Cranberry Show dropped a trailer for their upcoming project Paranormal Karaoke due out January 1, 2012. We got to talk about so many things including why she put the "MC" on her name, her journalism background, her "more than yourself" vision, the story behind her "Monster" freestyle video and working with Mick Boogie on her first mixtape "The Cassette Chronicles". We also spoke about her upcoming release "Doobies x Popsicle Sticks"; including references to the first time she heard her song on the radio, her favorite Arizona Iced Tea flavor and cupcakes. as well as, what to expect from the project, the preparation for her BET cypher verse, and what else is next for her.

Soldiers in the armed forces and rhyme, John Graham salutes you. About a week ago Graham reached out to me for the artwork on this Sizemen produced track presented by Word Is Bond as a part of their Versus series. In order to really get my creative process going, I need to hear the music for which I am designing art. Once the track began and Graham started to rhyme, I was captivated. I knew this cut was a winner. After a second listen I knocked out two potential covers in just about 20 minutes. I gave it a third listen to make sure the art got the point. I really dig the track. Whether or not we'll ever see Detox from Dre, we all know he's working. The latest Dre protege comes in the form of rapper Slim the Mobster, who released War Music, hosted by DJ Whoo Kid today.
