Signif "Embracing Rejection"

For a female in Hip-Hop, there's tons of rejection before some people even hit play on the music. It's just the way it is in the male dominated industry. For the Milwaukee bred NYC resident Signif, she's embracing rejection on her latest project and as she says, it's a testament to her continued trails and tribulations as she continues to define who she is as an emerging artist.

I've known Sig for a minute now. She's one of those folks who I'm actually cool with outside of the music. She's good people and I dig her music and style. She's no cookie-cutter emcee either. Her moves and music are always deliberate, well thought out and fresh. She continues that on her latest project presented by TMB, HipHopisCoolAgain.com and KevinNottingham.com.

We're honored to bring you the 16 track LP as a follow up to her spring EP Significant Wizdom with producer Gee Wiz. On Embracing Rejection Signif brings production from Tay Lee, Sauce Fonda, Gee Wiz, HPthaHybrid, Haz Solo, and more. Hit play and vibe with our homegirl Signif. Embrace rejection. Chea!

Uncommon Presents "Save the Horn" for East African Famine Relief

I'm not from the school of copy/paste posts but I think the folks over at Uncommon sum things up in their email better than I can even attempt. So, I'll let they take it from here.
Uncommon Records humbly presents our 2nd "Pop Up Album", Save the Horn.  All proceeds from Save the Horn will be donated to Charity:Water which builds water wells in the 3rd world.  They are currently raising funds to finance a drilling rig that can dig multiple wells in the country of Ethiopia.  All of the dollars donated to Charity:Water are verified to be going toward specific wells via Google Maps and photos that are directly associated with the dollars.  Even their overhead comes through a separate income source.

Save the Horn will only be available for one month (10/28-11/28), we will then donate all funds raised from the sale of the album and it will never be available again.  This creates a rare piece of music in the digital format.  The album contains 16 songs for only a $5 donation, although we would encourage you to donate more if you can.

Save the Horn features music from Uncommon's roster like Acid Reign, Adam Warlock, Atari Blitzkrieg, Pruven, Short Fuze, Taiyamo Denku, Masai Bey, DCK VNNGT along with collaborations with fellow Progressive Hip-Hoppers like JunClassic, Billy Woods, Megabusive, Aeon Grey, Passive65ive, Carl Kavorkian, Zesto and more.  The list of producers banding together is also impressive including Nasa, Agartha Audio, IV the Polymath, Black Tokyo, Waatu, Bond and others.

The opportunity to present staunchly Progressive Hip-Hop like this in a joint effort to raise money for a worthy cause is an honor.  We were able to make a difference with Japan Earthquake Relief earlier this year with a similar project, now we need to send the same love to Africa.  Thanks to everyone that takes part, and enjoy the tunes!!!

RoQ'y TyRaiD - "RoQupy Music"

I'm just going to give you the words straight from the source because honestly, I couldn't have described it better myself.

Peace. In light of recent events, I think it's important more of us artists openly speak out and voice our opinions about the state of our culture.. not "hip-hop" but our society as a whole. Still, in this New Depression.. we (hip-hop) use escapism like a reality-altering drug by masquerading the plight of our economy and LACK of jobs with the glorification of materialism in ways not even the "shiny suit era" could rival. Yet, we dare not speak of politics... ??! Social Awareness is that Taboo?? Most won't even acknowledge our collective, impending demise.. without it being used as a marketing ploy, of course (i.e. all the "recession-themed" songs / albums )... So, i dug deep into my "The Podium" roots..

Voiced my frustration..

So.. with out further delay..

Wrekonize (of ¡MAYDAY!) – "Mayday & Chardonnay" (Freestyle)

"On today's episode of Beats That Weren't Produced For Me.....Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay." Haha. Wrekonize is back with another track jacking freestyle over Big Sean's commercial hit. Wrekonize continues to surprise me. I like the way he flipped his style on this.
