What EMS Is Watching ... "Love On Top" x @KrisWak (original by Beyoncé)

So... it's late nights like these when I go trolling the internet and stumble upon awesomeness like this. I was spending the last few minutes of my night on YouTube seeing what was what and the first time I got notice of Kris Collins was when I watched his co-cover of Frank Ocean's "We All Try" with his best friend Dom (which, by the way, was very good). Then I mosied on over to the Facebook Fan Page and saw the cover of Beyonce's latest. I thought to myself, hmmm I wonder how this is going to go. Can we say cutest thing ever?! I love his voice, he's extremely talented and I, for one, plan on finding out more about Kris' music. I think this would definitely serve as something nice for the dames! Enjoy.

What I'm Watching: Denzil Porter "Kanye West"

I've played this track a few times today. I dig it. Maybe because sometimes I'm an asshole. Ha!
"Inspired by the stereotypical New York City resident. New Yorkers: hardworking, tough and outspoken are often viewed to those outside of the city as just plain assholes. Denzil explains, 'I feel like it's just in our blood to do what we do and say what we say when we want to. Although we look at it as how we live, outsiders look at is as rude and obnoxious'"

What EMS Is Listening To ... "Free Your Mind" x Tolu

I've had this in the inbox for awhile and I just got a chance to listen. I'm definitely digging this. The message is great (this is where I'd advise checking out the lyrics) and with that being said, the words are poetic to say the least. "Free Your Mind" is definitely something you can chill out and vibe to, so check it! Enjoy.

What EMS Is Listening To ... "My Drug" x The 17th

Let me just start with saying, WOW! I actually stumbled across this little gem by happenstance. The 17th followed me on Twitter, and whilst checking out the profile, I noticed a link. Funny thing is, I rarely click on folks' twitter links, but something just said, "Yo, go check this out." And lo and behold... Dope! I've always been a fan of fusing genres and "My Drug" is a perfect amalgamation of hip-hop and rock. It's edgy, eerie and all over the place but in the most beautiful way that a song can be crafted. I promise, that's a compliment (I'm not always the best wordsmith). Something else I love about this song is that you're able to just lose yourself in the music. Sometimes, we definitely all need that.

But, "My Drug" isn't the only thing that The 17th has to offer. Over on the17th.com, the player at the top has a few other songs that I think you guys will dig in addition to this one. So, enjoy!

What EMS Is Listening To ... "Liquid Lava Love" x Kevin Michael

Now... considering that I didn't starting writing for TMB until like May of 2010, this does not count as a late pass! Ha! Kevin Michael, as an underrated artist in my humble opinion, is probably one of my favorite. He's eclectic, his music is fresh, raw, in constant rotation for me... everything. And off of his 2007 debut album Kevin Michael, "Liquid Lava Love" happens to be in my top 3 as far as dope songs. Although this may be "more appropriate" for a Friday or Saturday night (el-oh-el), enjoy it tonight. I heard today was pretty difficult for a few folks, so maybe this will help ease into a better Tuesday! What are YOU doing with your Monday night?
