NEW RELEASE: Green Street "Endless Summer"
Released over at the Booth last week, the Brooklyn crew Green Street dropped their new project, Endless Summer, just as the weather began to change. A follow up to their April project, Don't Look Down, the new project - according to the group - allows listeners to recapture that feeling of summer whenever they decide to press play. With features from Donwill, Fresh Daily, Chris Faust and more, Endless Summer is solid straight through. Hit play and get your summer back. Chea!

What I'm Watching: Grace The Martyr "Times Of A Martyr"
I stumbled on this track from Grace The Martyr in the general submissions email today. I dig the autobiographical cut from the southern raised emcee off his upcoming project The Southern Odyssey, dropping at some point next year. Hit play. Chea!

Nakia hit me up with another fresh cut that is just too excellent for words. "Love Letter (He Wants Me to Win)" virtually describes the most perfectly uplifting relationship any lady or gentleman would love to experience. I'm definitely vibing out to this joint right here. Take a listen and enjoy!

The Bigger Picture ... Ricardo "Selfmathematiks" Murillo wins a spot on a Times Square billboard.
Shoutout to Connecticut's own Ricardo "Selfmathematiks" Murillo, Founder/Owner at SELFMATHEMATIKS Clothing Co. & Photography, for winning a contest held by About.com securing him a spot on a big Billboard at Times Square. This guy is one of Connecticut's hardest working independent photographers I know. From clubs to music shows, from events to photoshoots, this guy does his thing behind the camera.
I asked him about this contest, the process, and the outcome. Here's what he had to say.
Well, it was an online contest for a website company called About.me, a branch of AOL, and basically it's a social network that is like a digital business card. So people can see a picture of you, read a short bio, and all your info and social media links are on that page. Pretty genius idea. So anyway, they were having this contest campaign where who ever got the most votes would win a billboard of their profile in Times Square and I was one of the 3 Grand Prize winners.
There will be a total of 10 winners that will get their profile on the digital billboard but only 3 Grand Prize winners will get the most face time on the billboard. Also, the 3 Grand Prize winners get flown, or in my case because I am close, they are sending a limo for me to head out to NYC and are putting us in a hotel in Times Square for 3 days and 2 nights with a guest. This is all happening on October 10th. Also, on that day they will be presenting us with the win in Times Square and we will attend a private company event. We will also be apart of the promotion campaign, magazines, online, etc. The Billboard goes live October 8th and will run for 4 straight weeks but we wont be doing the presentation until the 10th.
I ended with 2,832, the most votes and people from all over the world participated in the contest.
Make sure that on October 10th, if you're in Times Square, you check out the billboard and hit him up on Twitter if you're taking pics of it. @SELFMATHEMATIKS

Download ... Pruven - "Eccentric Cohesion" (Free)
Pruven releases his latest work of intricate, deep and socially aware music in a free 14 track album featuring emcees by the names of Billy Woods, Adam Warlock, The Rising Sun Quest, Buttas and more. Diving into topics such as banks, the government, ancient religions, and today's rappers and their music, to name a few. Very interesting music on this album that might leave you with some insightful point of views paired with production that will have your head nodding. Check it.

Vibes - "Dead Presidents"
Vibes, a New Jersey based MC, borrows Hova's "Dead Presidents" and puts his own twist on it. First time I've heard of him and he's got my ear interested out the gate. With lyrics like these and a flow that seems like he's on autopilot, this track ends up on my win list. The production does not hurt at all either. Check it.

What I'm Watching ... ¡MAYDAY! - Sweat Shop Freestyle
¡MAYDAY!'s Bernz and Wrekonize come through with a new video for a track they put together using El-P's "Time Won't Tell" and in my opinion, I think they did it justice. But I'm a ¡MAYDAY! fan so my opinion may be biased. Haha. Check it out.
"You think I can afford to share? / Newsflash, bitch: The middle class gone. I'm a poorllionaire. / Scraping loose change from bottle caps / keeping an honor that's no longer sacred where the piranhas at."
Directed by Bernz & Wrekonize

What EMS Is Watching ... "Transition Remix" x @NakiaSaid
I don't think I could've found something better to kick start your October month than the smooth, mellow sounds of Nakia Henry. I posed a question on Twitter for folks to hit me up with some R&B music because I needed to hear something new, and one of my peeps, @JosephAParker told me about this artist. I checked out her video on her website and suffice it to say, I'm loving it. "Transition Remix" is a song, I think, that we all can relate to at any given point in our lives. It inspires us to let go, and live.
"Don't know if it's the Virgo in me or the way that I was raised to be. That keeps me constantly stressing and missing all the great things in this life. Is passing me by. So I've been trying to find things to ground me. Show compassion to my friends and family. Learning how to love without condition. But I forget to love me so easily. Is it how I choose to be?
Well I've decided... well I've decided. Well I've decided. I've decided. I've decided that I forgive me. I forgive me. It's my decision. It's my transition. And I've decided to live my life and not let life live me. I forgive me."
The vocals are dope. The video is stunning. I love the instrumentation and the arrangement. Take a look and a listen. Enjoy! And don't forget to choose to live.

NEW ALBUM: PremRock & Willie Green
Last week was a strong week for full length Hip-Hop projects. A lot of mainstream and indie folks used the last week of September to flex their musical strengths. While at the top of the pile, from a mainstream perspective, was J. Cole, there were strong projects from 9th Wonder, Phonte, J-Live and more.
Last week also saw the release of PremRock (emcee) and Willie Green's (producer) self titled album released by Isolated Wax Records. The New York based duo put together a strong cohesive project, with hard hitting production and dope rhymes. I've said before and I'll say again, the one emcee / one producer projects are my favorites and create such a fluency that is sometimes missed when too many producers are involved on a project. There is a musical chemistry between PremRock and Willie Green, in part because they are friends with a common vision who create a sound that is so in-sync.
I enjoyed their new project with features from C-Rayz Walz, Soul Khan, Has-Lo and Open Mike Eagle, with cuts from Baltimore's DJ Addikt. It's quality from beginning to end.
