Soul Khan "Resolution" Produced by marink
"This new EP isn't progressive, experimental, or a bold new frontier in popular music. It is a drunken stab in the face."
Soul Khan delivers up another EP in Resolution, this time with Brown Bag AllStars producer marink on the boards. Four tracks for $3 is like a buy three, get one free type of deal. Damn, Soul Khan is a generous mutha-effn rapper, huh? But the generosity doesn't come just in the price, it comes in the rhyme. Resolution is packed with the word play you should come to expect from Soul Khan. And he doesn't disappoint. The project is also filled with solid production thanks to marink and a familiar collaborator in Akie Bermiss. Also featured are Big Chief and Nine. Fresh from start to finish. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

Elle Maxwell "RUSHOUR"
Last week Elle Maxwell released her RUSHOUR mixtape ahead of her RUSH Ep. The project includes a gang of promotional tracks over some industry beats that have been hitting the Internets over the last few months from the DMV female emcee. Elle Maxwell uses RUSHOUR to reintroduce herself. The girl is dope. And the project is solid. Enjoy. Chea!

Brown Bag AllStars "Live From The ROC"
The good folks over at ACT Live Music return with another installment of their live concert series with the homies from the Brown Bag AllStars. The live EP was record last June when BBAS visited Rochester, NY and performed at The Dub Land Underground. Definitely a solid offering from the NYC crew, who have found themselves featured on the site numerous times. Check out one of my favorite cuts below and if you dig it, definitely download the full project. Enjoy. Chea!

Oddisee "Mattered Much" Feat. Olivier Daysoul
After releasing his latest project Rock Creek Park digitally a few weeks ago, the new Oddisee instrumental album is now available on CD. And to celebrate he releases the Oliver Daysoul featured track, Mattered Much.
As Mello Music Group put it, "Mattered Much was not initially made for Rock Creek Park, but after putting together nine songs for the album, Oddisee went back into the hard drive, rediscovered this song up, and realized it was perfect for the album."
It's a solid track. I definitely dig it. Enjoy. Chea!
If you haven't copped Rock Creek Park, you can do so here (CD) or here (digitally).

On the third installment they chose DJ Muggs from the legendary Soul Assassins. According to Scheme and DJ Scend this series will eventually become the Two Turntables and a Mic Mixtape. Dope. In the meantime enjoy this dope joint and look out for the video in a few weeks. Chea!

Interview: Miss Special x Skeme
This girl stays on her interview grind and I respect that. Salute Miss Special, always chopping it up with dope folks. This week had the opportunity to speak with Skeme again. They cover a range of topics. Enjoy the interview. Chea!
On Saturday night before his show at Brick & Mortar in SF I had the opportunity to interview Skeme again. We spoke about his favorite track on The Statement, working with K. Roosevelt on "Thanks God", "That Good" and "Ape Sh*t" all in one day. We also talked about The Statement 1.5 including features such as Erk Tha Jerk, ASAP Rocky and more, and going on tour with Strong Arm Steady for the Arms and Hammers Tour. Additionally, we spoke about new releases from the Sox Gang, why he chose to do "Krooked Montana" and releasing something from him and Cardo soon.(via @MiSS1SPECiAL)

Hip-Hop Breakfast Ep 71
I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend (or Memorial Day as many on twitter confused the holiday with). Most of us had yesterday off and too many of us are back to the grind this Tuesday morning. Well, I'm not. I got an extra day. But I wouldn't leave you without some great music to rock to as you get ready for work, for your commute, at your desk or wherever. As always, I hope this helps kick start your week. Enjoy. Chea!

Dirt E. Dutch "Let It Go" featuring Kyle Rapps
Check out this new joint by Dirt E. Dutch featuring an MC Q and I bumped into a couple of years ago at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Sounds like he continued right where he left off on the mic. Read up on Dutch's upcoming release and then make sure you check out the record. Dope.
Wasting little time since his January release Hit the Dutchman, and his May release with Infinito 2017, Without Permission, Dirt E. Dutch returns with his third collaborative LP of the year fittingly titled Bars Magica. This time he presents a handful of some of the most artful writers the underground has to offer. Combined with custom tailored soundscapes produced by the Dutchman, each song stands strong on its own. No soundbyte filler. No excessive chatter during beginning or end of the tracks. The beats and the lyrics weave a spell powerful enough to keep the listener charmed throughout. Featured appearances from Kyle Rapps, Breez Evahflowin, Rabbi Darkside, Atari Blitzkrieg and more. Bars Magica will be available digitally September 13th, and physically September 20th, 2011.

What I'm Watching: Emilio Rojas "Breaking Point"
Emilio Rojas, "Breaking Point" from Erojasmanagement on Vimeo.
Emilio Rojas is that dude. I remember when I first heard this track a few weeks back. I was moved by the solid production and Emilio's strong verses. But then again he always delivers lyrically. The video shot while on tour out in Europe is fresh. Like I said, Emilio Rojas is that dude. Don't sleep. Enjoy. Chea!
