No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn: Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival Recap
I got on a bus at 1am from upstate New York Saturday morning. This particular morning I was on my way to the 7th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. My blog partner and long time friend OC Supreme and I have made it a tradition to attend over the last few years. And having moved upstate New York, I wasn't going to change that. So, I sacrificed some comfort and a bed for the night to sit up in a seat and get as much sleep as I could between the start and end of the trip.
In my mind, there was really gonna be no sleep till (after) Brooklyn.
Apollo Brown & Hassaan Mackey "Volume"
Apollo Brown x Hassaan Mackey tho? Shiiiit. Their new project Daily Bread is available over at iTunes and available for pre-order on CD here and on vinyl here. But today, you can get their first single for free.99. And damn, this track is crazy.
Hassaan Mackey on "Volume":Hit play. Enjoy. Then go get your Daily Bread. Chea!
“Yo man, that was the first beat Apollo played when I walked in his crib in Detroit… this was the first song I wrote to when I got there, and we knew it was the lead joint. It was dumb early in the morning, I had just gotten off the train from New York. Apollo had picked me up and I started writing it at Apollo's crib and finished it in the studio that night, recorded it, and it was in the pocket. We knew that was the opener!”

HHVtv Presents the Making of "We Got It"
One thing I miss is being in the studio. I use to constantly chill in studios with rappers and singers alike during the creative process and from time to time offered my opinion here and there. The energy in a studio is so great when someone is creating some dope music. Recently a group of Canadian emcees got together for a collaboration at The Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver. This is a behind the scenes look at the making of "We Got It" featuring Defenders of the Faith, e.d.d.e, Kyprios and SonReal. Enoy. Chea!
Also, check out the bonus video featuring friend of TMB e.d.g.e.

Hip-Hop Breakfast Ep 61
Damn. I'm tired. I was at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival this weekend, and that took over 36 hours of my life, including two six hour bus rides and something like nine hours of standing. But it was worth it considering the amazing line up of talented folks, including Eternia, Shad, Nitty Scott, Homeboy Sandman, L.A., Random Axe, MOP and headliner Q-Tip with special guest Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Black Thought and Monie Love. So, my legs and back might hate me but I did it for Hip-Hop. Ha! Anyway, hit play on this week's ep filled with some quality music and I hope that it helps kick start your week. Chea!

Audible Doctor "Stayin' Busy Remix" Feat. Silent Knight, KON, Rasheed Chappell, YC The Cynic, & Soul Khan
"Writing til I got the right of way, right away..."
When you hear a posse cut like this with such incredible production you want more people to hear it. You've got to share it. Lyrically this track seems unfair considering the emcees assembled for the "Stayin' Busy Remix" off of The Audible Doctor's upcoming You Should Buy Music Not Make It EP. At just over 3 minutes, there are so many damn quotables on this joint, you'll find yourself rewinding over and over again. I'm on my 8th listen (probably 9th by the end of writing this post). The cut serves as a bonus joint and will be available on the CD version of the project, as well as the free download card that comes along with a "You Should Buy Music Not Make It" tee. Right now you can rock to this joint, again and again. Enjoy. Chea!
