Artist Spotlight: @JosieStingray, She's Got It
JCrillz over at hiphopiscoolagain.com put me on to the Oakland female emcee Josie Stingray a few weeks back. He said about her: "one of my favorite emcees (male or female from California's Bay Area has dropped a new video." Josie Stingray, a self proclaimed sneakerhead, delivers the heat on the mic. I dig the sound and her energy. Another example of a dope female emcee doing her thing musically. Check out "Got To Get It" and get to know Josie a little bit after the jump.

Vandalyzm "The Proposal"
"...Vandalyzm's back, and he's making an honest women out of "her". But will her "son" get in the way of his goal of commitment? Listen and find out...
Indeed Vandalyzm is back with one of those pop up projects. Man, fuck scheduled and promoted release dates. All we need is 15 minutes and a hook. Ha!
Yesterday, he served up the video and track for "April's Fool" with the announcement that The Proposal was dropping today. And just 24 hours later, here we are. Recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Vandalyzm, that's what we call a negro that multi-tasks like a mofo. Ha! The Proposal is a solid project, from the high energy of "Chillin'" to the soul driven and self-reflective "The Real", right down to the celebatory tone of "We Made It" with the smooth vocals of Theresa Payne. And you get all this for $1. Support good music and spend a little, literally. Enjoy. Chea!
"And if you like it PLEASE TELL YOUR FOLKS. Good music only spreads when folks let other folks in on it. Oh yeah, this is just the ep...we still got "Vandalyzm Is The Stepfather" in the fall."

What I'm Watching: Elle Maxwell "Piano in the Dark" (remix)
As I began to write this post, I thought to myself how many times I've started a post with "Elle Maxwell is dope." I mean, she is dope and every time I peep a new cut from the DMV artist, formerly known as Lola Maxwell, I can't help but to say it again. So, Elle Maxwell is dope. With her new project, RUSH EP, in the works and scheduled to drop this summer, she returns with a dope spin on the Brenda Russell "Piano in the Dark" track, and video for that matter. I dig it. Enjoy. Chea!

The Mad Bloggers Spotlight: @TXHummingbird - 1+1 (original cover by Beyoncé)
Girl, listen... You did that!
I've seen one other video by @TXHummingbird singing "Happy Birthday" to a follower, and it was amazing. I didn't know "Happy Birthday" could be sung that well, and in a cappella no less. Any musician or artist knows how difficult it is to sing without music.
And again, I couldn't let myself go to bed without posting this, because this woman deserves to be heard. Of course, if I find out she has recorded material, I'll be SURE to post it on The Mad Bloggers as soon as possible.
I, myself, can say that I'm somewhat of a Bey stan. Not to the extent of others, but enough. But let me just tell y'all... @TXHummingbird > Beyonce on this song. Watch out Bey, you've got some MEAN competition.
Enjoy the video.

Jonathan Lowell "The Lionheart Tribe"
Tell me you don't see some half naked folks in traditional tribal gear dancing while you listen to this beat and I'll show you a liar. Ha! Producer/emcee Jonathan Lowell, who's got a gang of production credit under his belt, is gearing up for a solo release of mostly instrumentals with a few guest features. This track is the first from the project and is a winner. I'm looking forward to hearing more. In the meantime, learn some tribal dances and rock to The Lionheart. Chea!

What I'm Watching: Vandalyzm "April's Fool"
Either I wasn't paying attention or Vandalyzm snuck up on us with a new project, The Proposal, dropping tomorrow for $1 over at his bandcamp. And to give you a taste, he dropped the self-produced track with a video directed by SYGU Creative earlier today. Quality joint. Definitely looking forward to The Proposal. In the meantime, enjoy "April's Fool." Chea!

Check It ... Mindz-I Ent. presents FUZEONFEST 2011 ft KRS-One, Mr. Lif, Duece Bug, Jacobi Wichita and more. (Photos)
It was an exciting night brought to you by the folks over at Mindz-I Entertainment. Seems like every show they present, it gets bigger and bigger. This time wasn't any different when they hosted a bunch of rock and Hip-Hop acts at Toad's Place. As you can see from the flyer and the photos, it was a wild and dope night.
The show started at 5:30pm on that Sunday and didn't end till around 1:30 in the morning. When I tell you that I was beat, trust me and know that that's an understatement. The night turned out great with all the music each act performed as well as the breakers in the audience. It was pretty dope to see artists I know such as DJ Mo Niklz, Duece Bug, Chuck Nickles, Blacastan and Pruven on the same stage as Mr. Lif and the legendary KRS-One and perform along with Mr. Lif even. Apathy, a really talented MC out of CT and affiliated with the Demigodz, hosted the evening and got to enjoy it from the sidelines.
With so much to recall, I figured I'd let the photos tell the story. You know The Mad Bloggers had to be there and I didn't let off with the camera work either. So here's a bunch of pics you can take a look through and see what you missed if you didn't go or reminisce on the night if you were there. Check it.

Check It ... Political Animals, Roc Doogie, PremRock, and Jesse Abraham at Acoustic Cafe (Photos)
Acoustic Cafe was hosts to yet another round of talented artists hosted by Sketch tha Cataclysm on July 9th. For a whopping $5, you got to hear music by New York's own PremRock and Jesse Abraham as well as CT's Roc Doogie and Political Animals with guests like D_Cyphernauts, Hawl Digg, and Dirt E. Dutch making an appearance in the night's event. While enjoying the dope music throughout the night, I was in TMB mode snapping pics and got a few videos before I unfortunately ran out of space. Haha. Check it them out.
