Friday's Five Random Questions with @RockyRivera

I listen to a lot of music each week. Not too often can I just sit down and enjoy a project from front to back without interruption. This past Friday while journeying from Upstate to Downstate NY, I hit play on Rocky Rivera's latest offering, Pop Killer.

The replay factor in today's music is important. Pop Killer has that replay factor through the roof. I played the mixtape over a dozen times in the last week since first downloading it. Rocky Rivera is dope.

Anyway, she decided to take the challenge this week. See how she answered Five Random Questions after the jump. Chea!

What I'm Watching: Jabee “Nobody”

I dig this joint. Very cool, laid back and heartfelt. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

What EMS Is Listening To ... Ray LaMontagne - Crazy (original by Gnarls Barkley)

As you should know by now, I love throwing in those curve balls on TMB every now and then and this weekend, I'll be throwing in a few. But I'd like to start off with RayLaMontagne. I don't know if this particular audience (meaning, you avid TMB followers) have ever heard of him, but he's a super dope musician. Absolutely love the grit and passion in his voice when he sings. I caught this song he did from my home girl @KeviaValentina. LaMontagne does a cover of "Crazy" originally by Gnarls Barkley. Suffice it to say, I dig the acoustic version.

Enjoy.

Interview: Miss Special x Signif

Miss Special has become a regular contributor to the site with her fresh interviews from her show Special Sundays, based out in Cali. Recently she linked up with TMB favorite Signif. And wait, did I get a shout out in the interview? Ha! Anyway, I'll let Miss Special take it from here ...
Here is my interview with Signif. We spoke about her degree, her previous projects, working with Haz Solo, her new project with producer Gee Wiz: "Significant Wizdom"; who came up with the title, the guest appearances and visions behind the songs. She also talks about the videos coming up, "becoming a Muslim" when she does music and what's next for her, including the new double disc album.

Unique Squared to Produce The First Official BHF Mixtape

The good folks behind the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, Brooklyn Bodega, announced some exciting news today. Already slated to be a dope event with live performances from Q-Tip, Homeboy Sandman, Eternia, Random Axe and more, BHF has added an exciting addition to it's main day performances with Unique Squared, which will provide their Mobile Studio on-site for the BHF this year. I'll let Brooklyn Bodega take the announcement from here:
"Brooklyn Bodega is proud to announce a brand new partnership with online Pro Audio and DJ equipment store Unique Squared that is providing a Mobile Studio on-site for the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF) on Saturday, July 16th.

"One thing Brooklyn Bodega has always wanted to do is produce a post-Festival mixtape with all its performing artists. What better way to capture the overall feel of the Festival, than with a project recorded on-site?" said  Kelli Jones, Business Development Manager, Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. "With the capabilities of the Unique Squared Mobile Studio bus, we are able to produce a mixtape featuring the fans favorite BHF '11 artists."

Parked on-site, Festival artists will have the opportunity to record material in the Unique Squared Mobile Studio for the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival X Unique Squared mixtape that will be released post-festival. The Mobile Studio will also feature a rotating roster of live DJ sets for attendees to enjoy at the bus throughout the day.

"Unique Squared and the Mobile Studio team are extremely excited to be in partnership with The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Our previous mixtape efforts recorded during A3C 2010 and SXSW 2011 have been well received by music lovers and the industry as a whole," said Soul Wallace, Director, Unique Squared Mobile Studio. "We are looking forward to bringing 'Mobile Music' to Brooklyn.""
Even more exciting is the BHF's invitation to producers.
Attention Hip-Hop Producers!
Brooklyn Bodega and Unique Squared in conjunction with RappersIKnow.com, ProducersIKnow.com and SonicBids.com are accepting submissions from producers to submit tracks for the mixtape!

If you want one of the BHF '11 artists over your instrumental track, submit here.
Like I said, dope!
