Friday's Five Random Questions with @UCanCallMeLA

L.A. is having one of the best weeks ever. Late Sunday she released the killer track “Spitting Out Blood”, which has been making its waves on the internet including a DJBooth.net debut. Then today she locked up one of the two spots on the upcoming Show & Prove showcase presented by The Brooklyn Bodega and 2DopeBoyz.com to compete for a spot on this year’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival in July. And to think, she’s only been rapping for 11 months, having just released her first project in January, with a follow up due out July. The girl is dope, and her music embodies such a raw uncut energy.

Anyway, this week she decided to take the challenge. Check out how L.A. answered five random questions after the jump.

Elle Maxwell "Ben Franklin"

I dig Elle Maxwell. But that shouldn't really be a surprise if you've been checking the blog for any considerable amount of time. She's been featured on the site since I first stumbled across her music last year. Back then she was going by Lola Maxwell but through the name change she still creates dope music with fresh concepts. I did a piece about her over at RefinedHype, where we talked about her music and more. Elle is good peoples. And she warned that once school was over she was going all in on the music. "After I cross the stage in May I plan to take my career from 35mph to 80mph," she said. Look at your calendar, May has come and gone. Music beware. Check out the new track from her upcoming Rush Our. Enjoy. Chea!

Team Robot "Bloody Mary"

The homie Chad from DonutsandMilk.com put me on to this new project from the New Orleans duo Cypher and Lu Smith (collectively known as Team Robot). I dig the project, especially "Manic." Yeah, "Manic" is my shit. Ha! Hit play and enjoy Bloody Mary.

I.C. NYC Episode 1: I.C. Waters

I fuks with the Internet celebrities. I mean, after all they're where I got the phrase "chea" from and learned how to make a Ghetto Big Mac. Anyway, today they kicked off their new I.C. NYC series with episode 1, I.C. Waters. Enjoy.
The Polar Bear Swim is a Coney Island tradition. On New Year's Day, the Polar Bear Club who swim off this beach all winter long invite the world to join them for a plunge in the near freezing Atlantic Ocean. What better way to start I.C. NYC than by participating in this New Year's tradition? Are these people just crazy or are the health benefits of cold water for real? And more pressingly, is this just some white people shit? The IC's aim to find out!
Directed by Casimir Nozkowski

Check It ... Oddisee - "You Don't Close Your Eyes"

Oddisee is highly regarded on The Mad Bloggers and I finally got to this short gem in my email and felt the need to share. Long enough to make you want more, this track is inviting. Dope!

"You Don't Close Your Eyes" is about the dynamics of a relationship turned cold. Clever wordplay and an effortless cadence propel this insightful tale of domestic apathy, which finds Oddisee questioning what changed in his relationship: "restaurant parking lots seem like the spot in the plot where you like to talk a lot, where it used to be the spot in the plot where the windows was steamed because the heat coming off was hot." Also along for the ride is frequent collaborator/keyboardist, Ralph Real, whose tenor adds an emotional intensity that helps accentuate the frustrations of unrequited love.

Check It ... Lucky Looch - "Never Enough featuring Cryptic Method"

Hailing from Meriden, CT, I caught Lucky Looch recently promoting this track that came out about a month ago titled "Never Enough" with the help of Cryptic Method. BE.water "Stars Of Eternal Shine"

This joint has been sitting in the inbox for a few days and I finally got the chance to listen to this joint. Damn, what an incredibly chill and dope project from BE.water. At 24 tracks it seems overwhelming but you just flow straight through what BE.water calls, "endless thoughts, because I feel that within the universe and our mind - the possibilities are endless." Enjoy. Chea!
