Hot on the heels of John Legend & The Roots' Grammy-winning night, Truelements presents the first single release from WAKE UP! RADIO -- an epic collaboration between Black Thought, John Legend, and the God MC himself, Rakim -- "In the Ghetto (Wake Up!)" Produced by J.Period, this history-making digital 12" release pairs two of hip hop's most legendary MC's together on wax for the first time, with a soulful finale from R&B superstar, John Legend. Revisiting the themes of the Eric B. & Rakim original, "In the Ghetto (Wake Up!)" shines a new light on ghetto life to reveal that some things may have changed, but many more remain the same.

5 Minutes with Rush Saifullah of Arabian Knightz
On January 25, 2011, the nation of Egypt erupted as the peaceful demonstrations against President Hosni Mubarak were met with armed resistance from Egypt's army. This was the beginning of Egypt's Revolution.
In the midst of the revolution, Arabian Knightz (comprised Rush, Sphinx and E-Money) released two singles, “Rebel” and “Not Your Prisoner”, that became anthems of resistance, gaining worldwide attention for their powerful lyrics and impassioned spirit against a wicked political system. Rush was in Tahrir Square daily with his people, E-Money held down his city, while Sphinx was forced to leave the country for the safety of his family amidst the gunfire and chaos.
I recently sat down with Rush to discuss Arabian Knightz, Hip-Hop and the revolution in Egypt. Check out our conversation after the jump.

"Please Do" - Humpasaur Jones vs. Willie Green
I dig the homie Hump Jones sound. And couple that with the killer production of Willie Green and this track is a clear winner. As if that's not enough, then you throw in the fact that this joint is a posse cut featuring Pro from The Aztext, Mohrer Les and Zilla Rocca and you're in grand slam territory. I definitely dig this track. The folks over at World Around Records do a great job putting out quality music and this Humpasaur Jones vs. Willie Green track is a clear example. Hit play. Enjoy. Chea!

Check It ... Keno x Rufio "Figure Four"
Keno is one of those Sacramento rap cats that are killing it lyrically right now. He's been a long time favorite with The Mad Bloggers with his solo work, as well as his material with theOTHERSIDE (with producer Sauce Fonda). He's teamed up with producer Rufio. Rufio makes dope beats. If you remember Rufio was the dude who's project, The Edgewater, we posted back in October. The Edgewater was a project Rufio completed during a visit to Wisconsin with Haz Solo. Anyway, Keno and Rufio are putting out a new project, For Those Who Are Still Sleeping, soon and have dropped off the first preview from that project. Hit play and enjoy "Figure Four." Chea!

Good*Fella Media Presents: @DREMURMUSIC "One Step Away Miles To Go" (Part 1 & 2)
Go 'head and look at the bearded mofo in a FILA sweatshirt getting a shape up and walking in the cold streets without a coat. He probably thinks he looks sharp or some shit. And of course this negro raps. He's aiight. Ha!
Nah, Dremur is a cool dude who makes some pretty fresh music. I met Dremur last summer in Brooklyn. It was just a few weeks after I had posted his Jinesis produced "Asian Lover" track featuring Scienze. I like Dremur and his music. He's currently in full promo mode for his upcoming sophomore album, One Step Away Miles To Go. From what I've heard, it's gonna be a winner. Look out for the project due to drop March 14. In the meantime, enjoy these promo videos and this negro Dremur being all deep and prolific and shit. Ha!

Jesse Abraham - Best Buy In-Store Performance x The One Day EPK
Jesse Abraham is a cool guy. The first time we met in person was at a show in Bridgeport, CT. He was on the bill with Sketch Tha Cataclysm and Top $ Raz. Before our meeting on that cold Saturday night, I had posted a few of his tracks and videos.
I walked up to him and said, "what up Jesse?" We shook hands and he gave me the head nod and both of us went about enjoying the show.
It wasn't until two hours later that he realized who I was. He was sitting at a table with me, OC Supreme, Jessica Estevez of iHeartDilla.com and Top $ and was like, "wait, ya'll The Mad Bloggers? You're ThroatChopU?" I laughed and said yeah.
"I saw your business cards all over the place but didn't make the connection until right now," he said.
When you're covering folks on your blog and only talk via gchat, twitter and email, it's cool to finally meet in person. It was great to meet Jesse.
Jesse is one of those hardworking emcees that appreciates feedback and being heard. When I saw him a week or so ago at the Independent's Day Showcase, the first thing I did was thank him for coming out. We then proceeded to talk about much I enjoyed his latest video, "Spiderman On Vitamins." We talked a little about the cameos in the video and the kids and how personal the video felt. Since it was a cool video and I wanted to pass that on.
As I needed to turn my attention to some logistical details of the show, Jesse ended the convo with, "man, I really appreciate the feedback." And in typical form, I replied "no doubt."
I dig what Jesse Abraham does. Anyway, check out his Best Buy in store performance of "Spiderman On Vitamins" and "Yoga." Plus check out the bonus video for his upcoming The One Day EP. Enjoy. Chea!
