"Fuck dumbing it down, you better smarten it up ..."
As the homie e.d.g.e. said in the intro to his latest email, "3 tracks a week...No stopping anytime soon." And he's delivered three times weekly a quality track. Check out his latest offering over a Dilla beat. Look out for All Flow Everything coming soon. Chea!
Shouts to DJBooth.net, DJ Z, Nathan, Hot Mop Films and Jacques Morel for the fresh interview with songstress Marsha Ambrosius. Recently she sat down with Jacques for a DJBoothTV interview. Check it out above.
Throughout the early-to-mid 2000s, Marsha Ambrosius was a staple of the urban music game, melding hip-hop, neo-soul and poetry as one-half of duo Floetry (co-founded with Natalie Dee). While the Liverpool-born singer-songwriter has been flying under the radar since the group's 2007 dissolution, concentrating her efforts on a handful of well-received street albums, she was by no means done with the mainstream – she was simply waiting till the time was ripe to make her grand re-entrance. Now, that moment has nearly come. On Late Nights and Early Mornings, "The Songstress" is back like she never left, showcasing a “sensual, sincere and seductive” sound sure to resonate with today's R&B listeners. Complete with Booth-approved lead single “Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)”, the project is set to drop March 1 via J Records
In the exclusive video interview below, Marsha Ambrosius sits down with DJBoothTV's own Jacques Morel to discuss the genesis of the album's title, her creative control over the project, and how she managed to enlist the elusive Lauryn Hill on the songwriting tip.
For day six, Ritchcraft dedicates this to those that inspire him as a producer/beatmaker. Ritchcraft draws inspiration from folks like Pete Rock and Ski Beatz on the production side and Skyzoo and Homeboy Sandman on the emcee side. Get the back story on Ritchcraft's 30 in 30 here and peep day 6. Enjoy. Chea!

Check out three pretty fresh projects from Zilla Rocca, Dirty Hank and Moses Rockwell. Their projects Bad Weather Classic, Does This Look Normal and The Nervous Wreck'd Tape all dropped this week. Zilla Rocca's EP provides some dope production and hard hitting rhymes. While Dirty Hank's project provides a bit of that alternative Hip-Hop feel and comedic style. And Moses Rockwell's project features some favorites from producers to emcees, that leads to 20 strong tracks. I'm sure you'll enjoy one of or all of these projects. Chea!
Check out my latest column of Return of The Real over at RefinedHype.com featuring Canada's own SonReal. We talked about his last project, The Lightyear Mixtape. We talked about his new project, Where's Waldo. We also talked Canadian Hip-Hop and more. Check it out.
