So I got some good news today and decided to treat myself. Tooling around in the store, I saw Chrisette Michele's latest album Let Freedom Reign. To be honest, I didn't realize this was her third album, but from what I've heard so far, I'm loving it.
Let Freedom Reign is actually structured as an album. Each track flows into the next effortlessly. We get to see a new side of Chrisette with her latest album. She adds some pop elements into her music, specifically in "So Cool," that provides us with a moderately upbeat tempo. You will not hear the typical R&B tracks that you're used to getting from Chrisette on the majority of the album, but I can definitely appreciate the new sound. I think that those who are die hard fans may not like the album, BUT if you can appreciate different types of music, I think the listener will be pleased. I've always been a huge fan of Chrisette Michele and have felt like she is one of the most underrated female ARTISTS on the market. Chrisette is so far from being cookie cutter, I suppose that's why we don't hear her tracks in the mainstream as often as I think we should. With that being said, that just means those who appreciate real, quality music and fully enjoy what she has to offer.
A few of my favorite songs are "So In Love" featuring Rick Ross (I know... surprised the hell out of me too, since I'm not a big fan of Ricky), "I'm A Star," "Let Freedom Reign" featuring Talib Kweli and Black Thought (DEFINITELY check out this track), and last but not least "If Nobody Sang Along." I know that was probably half of the album that I just named, but it's more than worth a listen.
For the sake of the blog, I won't post any snippets of the album, however, I'll link you up to several places where you can purchase the album.
Over at Amazon.com and BestBuy.com you'll be able to hear snippets of each track. The album is also available on iTunes.
And if you don't know, now you know...Mally has been rapping for quite some time now, releasing albums such as The Moment, The Letter, and the most recently released The Passion, which was helmed by Mydus. Now Mally along with The Sundance Kid provide you with the Free on the 15th Series. Here are the first three joints from that series. Enjoy and let us know at TMB what you think!
With production from Willie Green and features from Warren Britt and SoSoon, this joint right here is pretty damn dope. Check out the latest from Premonition off his project Sum is Greater. Peep the track below and Prem's explanation of the project after the jump. Enjoy.
Cee-Lo's The Lady Killer is one of my favorite albums released this year. And the visuals for the tracks from it have not been disappointing. Check out "It's Ok." Plus a bonus video of his live uncensored performance on Ellen. Chea!
