What I'm Listening To ...@HectorTroyMusic - Fallin'

Shoutout to the homie Hector for posting this link via his Facebook page. I happened to run into it while editing pics and decided to give it a listen. At first, it looked like a live performance of the track, which I may not have been fond of due to the sound quality though he's got skills, it ended up going right to the cd version or what have you. After a few listens, I decided it's going on the site. So, here you go. Hope you folks enjoy it as much as I did.

The Connecticut Hip Hop Underground Show Presented By BigBar Radio

I was told about this Hip Hop show by the homie Duece Bug via email that was going down in Ansonia, CT presented by Big Bar Radio and ended up having a pretty decent night there discovering some artists I previously heard of but didn't get the chance to catch up on. I was doing what I normally do which was chill in the background assessing the artists, crowd and the vibe. Felt like a real chill spot where most heads knew each other. I took a bunch of damn pictures but these are the few of the 200+ made the cut. I also added some music of some of the artists that I can find online. Check out all of that! Peace.

Download ... The Art of Ritchmixing: A K. Sparks Adventure

Take Queens, New York native K. Sparks and add Halifax, Nova Scotia's Ritchcraft and you have one hell of a project. Both K. Spark and Ritchcraft have been making waves of their own and together they create The Art of Ritchmixing: A K. Sparks Adventure. At just eight tracks, the project is fresh from beginning to end. Download and enjoy!

Interview: @JeffSpec Did It For The Kicks ... And More

Pic by Omar Khan
OC first put me on to Jeff Spec. It was right before the recent release of SneakerBoxxx from the Vancouver emcee, who has been rhyming since ’93 but only taking it more seriously in the last 10 years or so.

I liked what I heard. It was his track "Microphone Bully" that caught my attention immediately. It led me to check the dude out a little more.

Sneakerboxxx at just 11 tracks is dope from front to back.

But don't let the name mislead you to believe that his entire project will be about his love for sneakers - sure there's a fair amount of references to kicks in his rhymes - it’s more than that. Jeff explains in more detail but his rhymes and the content of the project is a bit conscious Hip-Hop, a bit party and all heartfelt. Jeff rhymes with reason and the dude definitely has something to say.

I reached out to Jeff Spec for a Q&A recently. We talked kicks and music. Check it out.

What I'm Watching ... @EricSosa "Summer of Love"

Both EMS and Tha Lady Blogga were on me about checking Eric Sosa. I kept saying, "yeah, I'm going to get to it." But an hour became a day and a day became a week and well, here I am finally checking this dude out. Yeah, LATE PASS! Anyway, for those that have been paying attention unlike myself, you already know this dude is super fresh on some real dope shit! Or perhaps this is your first taste of the Eric Sosa sound too. Either way, this "Summer Love" track is serious and the visuals for this jawn are pretty dope. Captured, directed and edited by POW. Enjoy.

Shad "We, Myself & I" (Trailer)

Typically I stay away from posting trailers to music videos. I don't know, it's just not my thing. However, I think the only other time I posted a trailer was for a Shad joint. Actually, I think I've posted any trailer I've been sent from his camp. Why? Because his music hypes me up. "We, Myself & I" is one of my favorite jawns off his latest album, TSOL (coming to the US very soon). Anyway, at 12 seconds you can feel the energy of what's to come. Enjoy.

Hopefully the track will hold you over until the full video is released.

Check It ... @TheRealJayMills "feMC DIARY" (Devil In A New Dress)

If you know me, you know I'm not a fan of folks driving a popular beat into the ground rocking their own rendition of it. However, the first time I heard Kanye's "Devil In A New Dress," I knew I needed to hear the track with a female emcee rhyming over it. So, much like many of my thoughts, I tweeted it. The Real Jay Mills responded. She's been featured on the site a few times. She's a dope emcee out of DC who just happens to be a woman. She definitely holds her ground. Check out what she calls an, "I just Wrote it ... Fresh out my brain...." type of track. In a time where folks constantly question where female emcees are, she raises her hand and exclaims, right here. Enjoy.
