Check It ... @Dumbfoundead "Clouds" ft. Jay Park & Clara
O and I are still finalizing the next installment of the Journey to Hip-Hop Series. After a successful run in Milwaukee and Connecticut, we plan to go West to somewhere in Cali (suggestions??) and explore the Hip-Hop scene out there starting mid-September! We're definitely looking forward to that. Anyway, I found myself roaming around bandcamp and bumped into this joint from LA based Dumbfoundead. It dropped a few months ago but damn, it's pretty dope. I felt the need to share. Enjoy!

Tha Lady Converses With A Legend: An Interview With DMC
Legends are important to Hip Hop. Being able to share thoughts and ideas with a Hip Hop legend was almost surreal. I was given the opportunity to have a chat with the King of Rock himself, DMC from the timeless trio, Run DMC. He is buzzing with projects and videos in the works. More importantly, he is running a contest called DMC Wants To Know (click for details). He is asking the public to submit sample playlists for iPod categories. As I am posting this, the theme for this week is Hip Hop. The winner of the contest gets a free iPod, autographed and engraved by the Legend himself.
The interview below can be downloaded and actually placed in your iPods so you can listen to it on the go. We talked about music now, music then and where music is going. It was an very interesting chat and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed interviewing him. Take a few and listen to “A Chat with a Legend...”

Listen To This ... Eric Benét - "Sometimes I Cry"
Look who showed up! Classic Eric Benét. I don't think there's been a time when I've ever been disappointed with Eric. I remember when I saw him at Chastain Amphitheater here in Atlanta. It was a ridiculous line up too: Dwele, Jon B, Eric Benét and Brian McKnight. That night, he introduced "Chocolate Legs" which is another one of my favorites. Eric has always been one of the best in the game... highly underrated. How can you not love this man and his vocals? His new song "Sometimes I Cry" is beautiful. It tells a story of a hurting man because he's not with his love anymore. Sure, this story has been told a million times before, but with this particular track, I actually feel for a brotha... He hits this one note around the 3:20 mark. Chills. All I want to do is close my eyes and listen.
I love it when people give us the gift of real music. You can't ask for anything more than that. Enjoy

What I'm Watching ... IAmDanielMoore - "Half Way Love (Stripped & UnCut)"
Currently residing in Atlanta, GA, Grammy nominated singer, producer, song-writer, musician Daniel Moore brings to us his #2 hit on the UK Soul Chart titled "Half Way Love" off his album IAMDANIELMOORE EP. I love the live sound he brings on this video. It gives it more life and gives the track a little bit more of an intimate sound. But those are my opinions, haha. Check it out for yourself.

Download ... Purpose (of Tragic Allies) "Better Than Your Album Mixtape"
Uh, what's funny is that this shit is really better than a lot of albums. A LOT. Ha! I caught this joint from Khal over at Rock The Dub. This Purpose joint is dope. BLAST IT!! Enjoy.
Today, Friday the 13th, marks the release of Tragic Allies-member Purpose's new mixtape, Better Than Your Album, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Hosted by Statik Selektah and presented by OneThree Music, this project truly showcases the raw Hip-Hop that emanates from Purpose's pen, and his board. Features include Singapore Kane, Ghetto Lion, both Code Nine + Estee Nack of the Tragic Allies, multiple-tracks featuring cuts from DJ Slipwax, and production from cats like KOS, Abstrakt, Archimedes, Bug, White Lotus and Purpose himself. It's an all-around proper slice of rugged and raw Hip-Hop that should set your weekend off properly.Check my favorite cut, "No Explanations."

TMB's Track of the Week 8/13/10: "The Teenage Love" AUTOMatic
There's obviously something in the water out in Milwaukee, because the Hip-Hop projects coming from that scene is dope. Anyway, "The Teenage" love comes from AUTOMatic (A.P.R.I.M.E. and Trellmatic) second project, "Transistor." I had the opportunity of getting an advance of the project ahead of it's August 28th release and the entire thing is dope. They'll be a follow up feature on the Milwaukee emcee/producer duo but for now, enjoy "The Teenage Love", the track of the week. Oh and I kept the interlude on at the end as an extra bonus. Enjoy.

Check It ... Black El "Hi(gh)"
I think the homie Andrew Martin over at Potholes said it best about this track "... In my opinion, a good track is a goddamn good track no matter if I can relate to the subject matter or not." There are a few tracks that I CANT relate to and don't like (mostly because I know the person rhyming can't relate to that shit either). Anyway, that's not the case with this new joint from Black El. Yeah, I don't smoke (and don't plan too) but this joint is tough and the production (Durkin on the beat) is dope. This joint is off Black El's upcoming A Color Commentary album. Chea!
