Download ... @iamstanza "Searching for Bobby Fischer"

I knew I was going to like Searching for Bobby Fischer before the first track played. I had been following Stanza's singles leading to the full release of this project. The ATL based emcee delivers lyrically with some fine production from DJ Toomp, Young Guru, DJ Teknology and a few industry beats.

Pay attention to Stanza. He keeps it fresh but doesn't dumb his music down. You gotta respect that. The dude is dope and Searching for Bobby Fischer shows just why you should pay attention. I kinda wish it wasn't so many tracks but hey they're all pretty dope, so I'll deal (haha). Check it.
The Searching for Bobby Fischer project was birthed from an observation of greatness. When greatness disappears, the witnesses of that greatness long for its return. Like Bobby Fischer for instance. He was arguably the greatest chess player in history and when he disappeared, the world hungered for his return. Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Pac, B.I.G,  and countless others were examples of this. They all chose not to settle for the one square, one directional movements and instead, decided to promote to something greater. The funny thing is we all have the potential to be as good, if not better than all of them. But we’re too busy being pawns. This is my pursuit of greatness. “Time to promote.”

What I'm Watching ... SHATiFF "Lovebird-Remix"

Check it.
In the LoveBird SHATiFF takes his listeners on a visual ride and shares with them the beauty of life from his perspective. He sheds light upon the dark and highlights the calm in a harsh reality. Using intimate backdrops throughout the DC metropolitan area SHATiFF displays for his audience the serenity of people enthralled by life's everyday moments. He captures the essence of solitude and the simplicity of love, fleeting moments that only a well-trained eye could uncover.

Lyrically the LoveBird is the definition of Neo-Righteous. In it SHATiFF shares his wisdom and strives to give you an honest perspective of himself and his community. Artistically, the LoveBird widens his audiences' view of who he is as an artist and as a man.

Produced by Self-Scientific & K-RocProductz. Featuring Gretchen Parlato

What I'm Watching ... Wrekonize - "One Too Many (Freestyle)"

I've heard the original version to this beat and I can't even tell you how much this one blows it out the water, in my opinion. This track is one that would probably never get too old for me. Wrekonize is definitely a talented MC.

Never Too Many

Wrekonize has been blessings us with freestyles all summer long and will be releasing a new solo project soon, titled A Soiree for Skeptics, so keep an eye out for some fresh new music from your favorite drinking partner on the mic by the end of the summer.

Until then, Wrek takes us through his usual blurry daze with the help from director Roberto "Beans" Granizo for Wreko's drunken lament, "One Too Many (Freestyle)". So pick your poison, pour a glass and click below for the video and download link.

TMB's Track of the Week 7/1/10: "I'll Kill Her" Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green's "Stray Bullets" mixtape was pretty damn good. I liked a lot of the tracks. The one track that jumped out at me and found itself on repeat for a while was "I'll Kill Her." It's kinda funny. Check out, "I'll Kill Her" featuring ME & LOnan the Destroyer, the track of the week.

Nasa of Uncommon Records recalls The Rammellzee (RIP)

I'm posting this a day late. I'd like to thank Nasa from Uncommon Records for passing this along.
What's up everyone?  For those that don't know, news has come down that hip-hop & graffiti pioneer The Rammellzee has unfortunately passed away.

While I didn't know him personally, I had the rare treat of a sit down audio interview with him for my podcast, Uncommon Radio in early 2007.  We talked about the beginnings of hip-hop, the evolution of his career and played a bunch of his music including some stuff that was not released at the time.  He also dropped a super abstract freestyle at the end of the show.

I'm proud to have gotten the chance to talk with him and with him gone now, I thought this would be a good way for younger generations to now find out more about him.

peace, nasa.
