Police Brutality

When will all this end? Probably never. Cops like these give the good ones a really bad name. Guy flips out the van, lays lifeless on the ground, the officers come running swinging nightsticks and closed fists and repeatedly beat on the alleged victim/criminal for about 11 seconds. I watched this video 4 times and still am in shock. Don't know why. It's not like it's the first time. But it clearly needs to be the last. Although this video was taken last year, it still reflects on the still occurring problem we face in America with some authority.

Birmingham Police Repeatedly Beats On Man...

(The video shows police pursuing Anthony Warren's van on Jan. 23, 2008. One officer on foot was injured when the van swerved through traffic. The van overturned on a ramp, ejecting Warren, who lay motionless as officers ran toward him.)

Country Chris Brown?

Word around the world wide web is that Chris Brown is considering doing a song titled "Trapped In A Dream", a song that might make his next album, with a country twist to it. I'm guessing him and his peoples are trying any and everything to spin his negative press and publicity around. But country music? I've heard reports that country music is the most depressing genre of them all. Personally, it's not for me. But I guess, going through all the legal drama that Mr. Brown is, you'll try anything.

Question I have is, will he try to remix that dance moves and throw a few back flips into them or krump it up with Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride or whoever? It's just the Krump. It's just the Krump. Haha. Good luck with that, Chris.

The Reality That Is Reality

Peeped this cartoon in the morning paper and wanted to share. It’s the sad reality that is reality television. It's Trash. From The Real House Wives (of wherever) to Daisy of Love to New York Goes to Work to Real Chance of Love to College Hill to Celebrity Rehab - Reality Television provides a warped look at society and reflects the f**kery of fools. And Big Brother monitors it all and surprisingly there are people out there who think that it’s all actually reality (insert creative editing of shows to provide 'reality'). Video killed the radio star, and then reality television killed real television. The funny thing is that the folks that appear on reality television actually think they are celebrities, when in reality they are folks with no real talent and our the court jesters that we laugh at for making fools out of themselves. But hey, keep the shows coming so that I can continue to clown them on the blog.

TELL 'EM WHY YOU MAD: The Way it Shouldn't Be...

Word has it that Keyshia Cole's BET reality series "The Way It Is" won't be back for another season, yet her mom Frankie and sister Neffe may be coming back for a spin off series on the network. Apparently the show will focus on the growth and independence of the ridiculous mother-sister duo. Shoot me. Black Entertainment Television fails to put positive networking on television time and time again. While Frankie and Neffe are hilarious and their antics ridiculous to watch, they set black women back decades with their ignorance.

Memo to BET ... make better programming decisions. Seems like the only DVDs they own are Color Purple, Lean on Me and Soul Plane and then they offer crap like Hell Date and College Hill as their original programming. Damn, remember the days of Video Soul and Teen Summit?

Decline ... sad.

Sonic Boom!

I suppose that's one way to win a battle. Charles Hamilton gets served up! Ouch! Wonder if he's calling Barbara Walters to tell his story. "Uh, what had happened was..." Riiiight.

Beyonce's Ego: Great another black & white video

Wait, is this the video for Ego, Diva or Single Ladies? Doesn’t it seem like so many of Beyonce’s videos since Single Ladies have pretty much the same copy/paste formula? Wear something skimpy and shake your ass with two other girls ... in black and white. I’m not complaining, just bringing attention to it.

Flyover Land Mixtape Vol 1.

Flyover Land Vol. 1 is a compilation mixtape from Midwest Broadcast featuring some exclusive and unreleased tracks from some talented emcees and producers out of the Midwest.

“It’s named Flyover Land in reference to the common notion that the Midwest is a region not known for producing proficient hip-hop artists, and can thus be overlooked,” according to the email that accompanied the link to the download.

There are some dope artists out of the Midwest, many of which have been featured on The Mad Bloggers page. So I was definitely pleased when I received the link and definitely pleased after downloading and listening to the project. Flyover Land includes artists like Soulcrate Music, Heiruspecs, Guante, M.anifest, Muja Messiah and many others. There are sixteen quality tracks and uninterrupted hip-hop (that’s right, no DJ yelling over the first 60 seconds of each song).

TELL ‘EM WHY YOU MAD: What Should've Happened

Instead of Meth and others going at Joe Budden, what they needed to do is talk about how some of the real suspect cats made the list. Yes, perhaps Joe was out of line for calling some of these other dudes out but in reality there are definitely other folks that should be the target here. Vibe’s Best Rapper Alive/Ever brackets were bogus from the word go and instead of these respected emcees going at each other, they need to call out other heads that definitely shouldn’t be on either list. You judge the list for yourself: [Best Rapper Ever Bracket] [Best Rapper Alive Bracket]

After Michael Vick was released from jail, he should have asked for the phone. Then made a call to TI and said, "n*gga, go to jail already." We’ve all had to endure TI spending a year and a day promoting going to jail for a year and a day, when in reality he may get out in 10 months and will probably work on and release an album called a year and a day. Yes, his community service work is noble and sends a positive message to young people. But, homie you need to serve your time already and stop with the parties, making videos and marching with Al Sharpton (definitely stop marching with Al Sharpton). TI, if you want to set an example for the youth, then you need to serve your time and then come back out and continue that good community service work. Enough is enough.

After attending Bette Midler's picnic, a few folks should have met 50 in his driveway when he arrived home that evening. They should have collected his bulletproof vest and informed him that being shot was wiped away from his street cred record for attending the picnic. Then they should have informed him that he has officially crossed over and should begin work on a pop album, especially if he was honestly considering doing a duet with Bette (which would be a stupid track). Hey, make your money and rub shoulders with whomever but there is something about the photograph above that makes me laugh.
