Think Tank KHB 59FIFTY

We reached out to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin emcee Dana Coppafeel (a member of KingsHellBastard – KHB) when we saw that he was pushing some New Era fitted hats.

“Let me just start by saying designing New Era caps is a dream come true for me,” he said. “The THINK TANK KHB 59FIFTY New Era joints were inspired by the idea that a great mind can unite and form an ultimate weapon.”

The concept behind the Think Tank joints is dope and so is the design.

“This is our new movement for clothing, music and art. The logo is a thought bubble with tank treads and canon represents Think Tank (our production name). The idea of the logo came from a night of drinking,” he said. “We commissioned the artwork to a local graff kid in Milwaukee named Brazil. Once we told the idea he ran with it and the rest is history.”

According to Dana Coppafeel the process took over nine-months and included a lot of back and forth with New Era execs.

“It’s like having a kid,” he said. “We had a few problems at first with New Era because of some of the legal aspects.”

According to Dana Coppafeel, the first problem came up when New Era couldn’t reproduce the KHB Crown (they needed to show ownership of the design). Then there was a mailing issue that delayed things for two months.

But after all of the hard work and various meetings and back and forth conversations, the process is complete and the limited edition Think Tank joints are now available.

“We got two hats, 36 of each in the whole wide world, so they are mad limited. You will not find these in any store. One is black and teal and the other is Teal and Red. They’re $60 each,” he said. “We’re going to keep them exclusive. We’re doing stuff limited for the heads and collectors.”

If you’re interested in getting one of the limited edition joints or for more information, hit Dana Coppafeel up at coppameal@yahoo.com.

What I'm Listening to Right Now... Pharoahe Monch

Pharoahe Monch has released two solo albums in his career. Both, in my opinion, embodies what great music is. His first album was strictly raw hip hop with many features that would resemble an underground hip hop all star team of some sort. His second album is very creative and unique and yet very different from his first album. He's one artist that I would rather have release an album once a year instead of two in the 10 years. The 1st album, Internal Affairs, was released ion 1999 while Desire was released in 2007. Amazing, amazing albums. If you don't have it, go get it. And if you have it, play it. You'll be doing more than Pharoahe a favor.

Check it out....

What I'm Listening to Right Now... Ginuwine

First of all, I might have disrespected dude a week or so ago saying perhaps he was working at Target or something like that cause I hadn't heard from him in a while. That was my fault. Ginuwine, no disrespect (Haha).

Check these tracks, they are both dope! Your boy Ginuwine is back. Damn, he's back and Maxwell is back... shoot is Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill in the studio too? They all come back and mess around and teach these young cats some lessons in R&B.

The Gladitor: Remix

Common launched this remix contest to get producers to remix Gladiator, off that Universal Mind Control album. According to his blog, Common said, “Man, we’ve been getting some cool gladiator remixes and we will select the best of the best.”

He has a few up on his blog, but this one right here is my favorite so far. This joint is produced by Skeoul, who is 20 and from South Korea according to the YouTube profile. It's a dope remix. I’m definitely feeling this one. Check out Common's blog for other remixes.

The contest continues. “Do ya’ll producers think you can come with better,” Common challenged on his blog. It can only get better.

In the Studio With Rob Roy

Episode I: Musings on Home(and Pyramid Energy) from Rob Roy on Vimeo.

I dig Rob Roy. He's got a unique sound. It has this funk / soul feel with influences from both the south (originally from Florida) and a touch of that west coast vibe (currently in LA). Found this vid from a few months back and thought it was dope.

Also check out that interview with Rob Roy (where you can listen to his album King Warrior Magician Lover). When asked when we should expect the album to drop, Rob Roy responds with, "The album's release date is SOON... I like surprises."

I Pity The Fool That Doesn't Like this Video

Friend of mine emailed me this earlier. I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING. He pulls the mic out of his back pocket like he really had room for it there. It's dope that the backup singers are dressed like mothers. Yo, treat your mother right!

Andy Suzuki Drops 300 Pianos on iTunes

The homie Andy Suzuki's album 300 Pianos just dropped on iTunes and I strongly suggest that you grab it immediately. Dude is humble, creative and extremely talented. It's a dope project from beginning to end. Hit up iTunes to purchase it and you can also check out some of his tracks at www.myspace.com/andysuzukimusic.

"I brought you in this world and I'll take you out..." Cosby Show Classic

"Theo, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!" Hahaha!

I loved this episode. Watch how excited Theo gets for $300 per week. That was big money back then. Cosby Show knocks out classics.
