There is NOTHING like being bored with the music you've been listening to for weeks, and then finding a shiny gem while watching one of your favorite summer television shows.
New artist Johnny Stimson absolutely blew me away with his fresh, sultry single "SO. GOOD." Influenced by the classic Motown sound, Stimson stands out in a saturated crowd of vocalists ready to give us something more. Check out his "SO. GOOD." below. Enjoy!
I have a million and five Pandora channels and today I decided to listen to the Neo-Soul station named after Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. After hearing several of my favorite songs, this soulful and sultry tune playing from an artist I'd never heard of grabbed my attention. His name... Antoine Dunn.
As I often tend to do, I like to share what I'm listening to on Facebook and Twitter. Sometimes it can drum simple conversation or an in depth discussion about how amazing an artist is. This was no different when I decided to press the 'share' button and tweet out Pandora's great song choice. Lo and behold, Antoine mentions me on Twitter to say thank you for tweeting the song out.
Then, I was able to chop it up with him on Facebook discussing some of his performance dates and how he got started in the music industry. Born and raised in Cleveland, Dunn first began his music career as a songwriter, then became a church choir director and finally shifted his focus to singing. And trust me when I say, that was a great shift of focus.
"Miss My Love" is a classic R&B jawn with a sprinkle of gospel spice. His voice melts effortlessly over the second release from his upcoming debut project Truth of the Matter. If you're wondering where the real music is, it's right here. Check out Antoine Dunn's song below and make sure you keep up with his musical journey on Twitter. Enjoy.
I'm happy to see that Rahsaan Patterson is pushing some new music! Ever since his 1998 self-titled debut, I've been a huge fan. His most current album Bleupohria was released last year, and hopefully "Don't Touch Me" is a precursor to a new project.
Serving as one of my favorite hip-hop artists over the last year with his impressive and lively sophomore album Creative Destruction 2, Dunson is back with his freshest cut, "Count On It" off the fittingly titled upcoming project The Investment. I remember when I first heard one of Dunson's songs, and all I could think was, "who is this guy?" I was taken aback because it has become so extremely rare that an artist puts together such a solid body of work where not one song can be skipped. My hat is off to him, and I'm looking forward to keeping up with his rapidly blooming career.
Just in case you're not familiar with his story, it's pretty cool. So, check it out and enjoy the song:
"Dunson resigned from his career as an investment advisor to become a full-time artist in 2010. After spending a multitude of years playing in bands of different genres, the Maryland native took the chance to become a solo artist focusing on lyrics and production. He has since amassed a receptive, global fan-base, proven through hundreds of thousands of downloads of his self-produced Creative Destruction series, among other projects and collaborations."
Shoutout to the homie Hector for posting this link via his Facebook page. I happened to run into it while editing pics and decided to give it a listen. At first, it looked like a live performance of the track, which I may not have been fond of due to the sound quality though he's got skills, it ended up going right to the cd version or what have you. After a few listens, I decided it's going on the site. So, here you go. Hope you folks enjoy it as much as I did.
Check out the new single by the late great Gerald Levert titled "Can It Stay" off the album The Best of Gerald Levert due out August 31st. Really good track from one of best. R.I.P.
Pharoahe Monch is firing his first shot from W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) with the debut record "Shine" produced by Diamond D and featuring Mela Machinko. Pharoahe Monch W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) will be released this Fall through Pharoahe's new company W.A.R. Media in association with Duck Down Music.
M-Phazes is hard at work producing good stuff. Chaundon dropped a new single on Bandcamp and it is definitely a banger. Growing up in the South Bronx and writing rhymes since the age of 13, Chaundon comes equipped with tough lyrics. Working on his highly anticipated album “No Excuses” due out soon, his first single “Y’all Don’t Want It featuring Carlitta Durand” is moving around the internet like a cool summer breeze. His first album “Carnage” was released 2 years ago. Aside from his own lyrical mastery, he came through with collabo’s with Little Brother, 9th Wonder, Jean Grae, and Sean Price. He has a host of mixtapes under his belt as well. Check out the single and get to know Chaundon.
This joint been on repeat randomly throughout my week. It's a really good song. I zone out to the vibe he got on here. Good song. Check it...

Yeah. I'm zoning. This album is good. Real good. This song is creative. I like it. I like how he makes valid points on the situations with women and B.O.B. I guess there are pros and cons to every thing in life, huh? Haha. Check it.

And if you haven't copped the third album, The Love and War Masterpiece, don't be one of the few left out. This guy, for 3 albums already, has put out quality music. I definitely co-sign his work. But let the music speak for itself and you be the judge.
