Track of the Week 1/8/11: Dusk "Black Lungs"

It's been a long while since we posted a track for the track of the week. It's a feature on the blog that both O and I have talked about a lot. So, we're bringing it back.

This week's track comes from Salt Lake City rapper Dusk (who was featured on the site just a day or so ago). I discovered this track after he sent his The Brady Effect project to me. Because of the EP, I found myself checking out more of his music through his Reverb page. I was immediately impressed by "Black Lungs," which is off of his Black Lungs Ep with his group MindState. There's something dope about the gritty sound created on the blues driven "Black Lungs." Definitely a cool track. So, check out and enjoy the track of the week. Chea!

Track of the Week 10/1/10: Quantum Suicide "Revolver"

It's been a few weeks since we posted a track for the track of the week. Now we're back with this dope cut from Quantum Suicide (Stanza x Strange Republik) off their latest project, Momentum EP. When I downloaded this project a day ago, this track just jumped out at me and has been in a steady repeat cycle being played over and over again. It's a dope track. So, enjoy "Revolver," the track of the week.

Track of the Week 9/3/10: "WhereTheHeartIs" EPonym (capitalEP)

As the story goes, Sauce sent me a track that he produced featuring Keno (both of theOTHERSIDE) that was on EPonym's OverAchiever EP. I dug the track. I posted it. And then sought out more of EP's music. I caught this track also off of OverAchiever. The whole project is fresh but damn this track went straight repeat for a while. Enjoy "WhereTheHeartIs," the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 8/26/10: "Wake Up" Sol

The dude Sol is pretty dope. I caught his video for "Dear Friends" via DJ Hyphen out in Seattle a few days ago. That led me to download and check out his full project,"Dear Friends, Vol. II." I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it a lot actually. Check "Wake Up" featuring J.Pinder and Dice, our track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 8/13/10: "The Teenage Love" AUTOMatic

There's obviously something in the water out in Milwaukee, because the Hip-Hop projects coming from that scene is dope. Anyway, "The Teenage" love comes from AUTOMatic (A.P.R.I.M.E. and Trellmatic) second project, "Transistor." I had the opportunity of getting an advance of the project ahead of it's August 28th release and the entire thing is dope. They'll be a follow up feature on the Milwaukee emcee/producer duo but for now, enjoy "The Teenage Love", the track of the week. Oh and I kept the interlude on at the end as an extra bonus. Enjoy.

This week's track comes from Moe Green off his Rocky Maivia: Non Title Match project. There is just something dope about the way this track flows that's so dope. It's been on repeat for a little bit. I figured I'd throw it up and share. Enjoy "Going For The Kill", the track of the week!

TMB's Track of the Week 7/30/10: "Alone" Skeptik (@skepstravinsky)

I caught this joint from OC. He suggested it be the Track of the Week. It's pretty dope and comes from the homie Skeptik. "Alone" is produced by @rashadmusic and according to Skep, it's "off my album that may or may not be scrapped." Well, in the meantime, go ahead and enjoy "Alone," the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 7/22/10: "How Much?" @JIMIJAMESmusic

I was on the train about two week ago on my way back home from NYC. This track came on. I had to look down at my iPod because it didn't sound familiar. The joint had immediately caught my attention because it was just sooooooo smooth! This JIMIJAMES joint had been on my iPod for a while, as part of a collection called the FALL IN LOVE Mixtape released by JIMIJAMES, featuring some of her tracks as well as tracks from others (including the homie Haz Solo). Anyway, this joint has found itself on repeat a few times over the last week or so. Even though it was released in 2006, this Fa'al and JIMIJAMES produced joint is still dope. Enjoy "How Much", the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 7/15/10: "ADDicted" XV feat. Cassie

It's been more than a year since Cassie and Rihanna's nude pics hit the internets. Remember that? Haha, I do. Anyway, XV dropped this joint around the same time, as kind of a dedication track to Cassie and Rihanna's nipple rings and "assets".

Well, there I am sitting at my computer today sorting through some things and this track jumped up randomly. I laughed. Then decided that I needed to share it again. Yeah, it's still dope (and funny). And because of that, "ADDicted" from XV is the track of the week. Enjoy.

TMB's Track of the Week 7/9/10: "Telephone" Shad

Shad is dope. I've said that before and I'll probably say it again. His new album TSOL is just another fine album in a catalog of dope albums. The first time I heard "Telephone" it was kind of acappella, which allowed the lyrics to stand out. With a fresh beat x the lyrics, this track is crazy. Enjoy "Telephone", the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 7/1/10: "I'll Kill Her" Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green's "Stray Bullets" mixtape was pretty damn good. I liked a lot of the tracks. The one track that jumped out at me and found itself on repeat for a while was "I'll Kill Her." It's kinda funny. Check out, "I'll Kill Her" featuring ME & LOnan the Destroyer, the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 6/22/10: "It's Hot Outside" @IamStanza

I've been checking this dude Stanza for a minute. OC put me on to dude by way of ATL radio personality Mo Reilley. The Georgia emcee is dope. He's working on his upcoming project and giving folks a few sneak peaks. "It's Hot Outside" is definitely a nice way to start the summer. Go ahead and enjoy this jawn, the track of the week!

TMB's Track of the Week 6/18/10: "Good Enough" @BigKrit

Big K.R.I.T.'s "K.R.I.T. Wuz Here" project was kind of a surprise to me. Mississippi emcee/producer Big K.R.I.T. has a gang of dope tracks on the project and "Good Enough" was one of the standout ones for me. While on a road trip this week, the track came up again and so I felt the need to push it out there again. So, enjoy "Good Enough" from Big K.R.I.T., the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 6/8/10 "Thunder Summer Storm" @MelissaCzarnik

Melissa Czarnik has been featured on the blog a few times. I dig her music. Every time I write about her sound, I throw the words "unique", "different" and "alternative" around. Indeed it is all of those things. "Thunder Summer Storm" (produced by Eric Mire) is one of my favorite tracks off of Melissa's "Strawberry Cadillac". It's a very chill track with depth in it's lyrics. Melissa is wrapping up work on her upcoming project due out late July. I'm excited to hear the new work. In the meantime, enjoy "Thunder Summer Storm", the track of the week.

This joint is off their self titled album available on Uni-Fi Records over at unifirecords.bigcartel.com (it will be available on iTunes soon). In the meantime, enjoy "Never Over", the track of the week.

TMB's Track of the Week 5/11/10: "Dont Lose Me" BLCTXT

I posted this joint back in December. It's off of King I Divine's "Crown Jewelz Pt 2" beat mixtape. BLCTXT and King I Divine have collaborated on a few different projects. I choose this joint for the track of the week because it popped up on shuffle and I'm still feeling the joint. Hope you dig it too. Here's "Dont Lose Me" from BLCTXT, the Track of the Week. Enjoy.
