The Roots - "When The People Cheer"

I love The Roots. They're exactly what I love my Hip-Hop to be. Here, Black Thought and Greg Porn are giving you the opposite of what most of them radio rappers give with stories of life more real than the ones being fictionally painted for you. Dope.

The Roots new single off their upcoming album "And Then You Shoot Your Cousin" Coming Soon on Def Jam Recordings.

What I'm Watching: The Roots & Big K.R.I.T. Perform Make My (Live At Highline Ballroom)

I rarely post videos of live shows that I didn't attend but I couldn't let this one slide. It's The Roots and Big K.R.I.T. performing "Make My" which is off of "Undun", the album that was released yesterday. It's been getting a crazy amount of great reviews everywhere but I'm not surprised. They are an amazing band. Check out the video and see a little of what I'm talking about.

What I'm Watching: The Roots "Stomp"

What I'm Watching: The Roots: "Tip The Scale"

Another haunting set of visuals for the latest track from The Roots off of their upcoming project undun. As previously mentioned, The Roots will deliver up their concept album in December, which "is an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999)." Tip The Scale finds Stephens, walking the streets of his tough neighborhood. When faced with such a rough reality, we'd want to tip the scale too. I'd say enjoy the video but it would be more fitting to say embrace it.

What I'm Watching: The Roots "Make My"

There's more in a minute and forty-seven seconds of this video than there is in some folk's entire video catalog. The Roots drop off the visuals to Make My, one of four videos from their upcoming project undun. You'll probably run this video back a few times because it's captivating albeit brief. Enjoy. Chea!

What I'm Watching ... A History of Rap: Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake and The Roots

As Q would say, #LatePass, but fuck it. I've already watched it a bunch of times and it's pretty dope each time. These guys go through a medley of a bunch of classic and a couple non-classic Hip-Hop joints from years passed to what's current. If you're one of the few that hasn't checked it out yet, here you go. Plus, I couldn't pass up a chance to post something involving my favorite Hip-Hop group of all time. Haha.

What EMS Is Watching ... The Roots feat. Musiq - "Break You Off"

I swear I'm going to stop flooding the people with posts, BUT when I'm feeling something, I have to break you off. Ha. Perhaps I'm getting the Q trigger finger itch... *inside joke* Anyway, so when I did the Throwback Sessions w/ EMS ... The Roots feat. Erykah Badu - "You Got Me," I saw the "suggested video" of "Break You Off" (2002) and I'd never seen it. I know I'm late, but I'm here now. I've always thought The Roots were DOPE, but I haven't checked everything they've done. I listen to so much music in a day, it's hard to get it all in. The point is, I'm feeling this jawn and if you hadn't heard the song or seen the video, watch it! They've been in the game for so long and I give them so much love. They keep it real and they keep it interesting and unique. You pretty much can't go wrong when it comes to The Roots. So enjoy.
