What I'm Watching: STANZA "Breathing's Beauty"

STANZA really delivers both a dope video and track with Breathing's Beauty. I'm really digging it. Enjoy both.
Love. It's an easy term to utter but understanding it is another thing altogether. I've come to believe young love is one of the Universe's ways of testing to see if it's inhabitants have the compacity to simply exist together. Having said that, I've never known or understood true love until my boys were born. I've got fraternal twins who came at a time when the wheels on my dream had just begun to roll. Going from, "what am I gonna eat" to "they're hungry and need to be fed" is subtle in speech yet so extremly deep in meaning that it set my entire life and belief system awry. I went from furious job searching and song writing, trying to quickly prepare some kind of nest egg, to just wanting to throw the towel in and let the ref count me out. I've held these emotion so close to my chest that they began to stifle my creativity. That is, until I decided to put them in to a song. "Breathing's Beauty" .

With Love,
STANZA

Boog Brown + Stanza - "Together" (prod King I Divine) [Beatz & Lyrics 2 Go Vol. 2]

Boog Brown is an ill ass emcee and a half. I've been convinced. She's teamed up with ATL's Stanza, whom we've been keeping an ear on here at TMB, and the results are nothing less than head nodding. King I Divine put his foot in the production as well. And to think, they recorded this during the 3 day festival down there in Georgia. Good stuff here.

The first leak from The Beatz & Lyrics Show’s annual Beatz & Lyrics 2 Go 2011 A3C mixtape is here! Atlanta MC Stanza teams up with Detroit’s own Boog Brown over a King I Divine production. This record is a small sampling of the type of collabs you will find on the project. All music for the mixtape was recorded during A3C, the 3-day hip hop festival in Atlanta, Ga on-site in Unique Squared’s Mobile Studio and at Salem Psalms Library in Atlanta, Ga.

Stanza "Broadcast from Georgia (Heavy)"

"If you find any of these bars entertaining, educational, or you just rock with em all together, please feel free to spread it among your people."

The Working Class Dreamer Stanza drops off another Broadcast from Georgia, taking on some of the hot topics in the news. While sometimes Jimmy Fallon slow jams the news, the ATL emcee speeds it up a bit through rhyme. The new verse is about Michael Jackson's doctor, Heavy D's passing, Joe Paterno's team secret, and the kidnapping of Wilson Ramos.

Stanza "Broadcast from Georgia (Car Wrecks)"

"Now I'm gonna continue throwing these bricks of information through the thin glass of the news and loot some more interesting jewels to share with you."

The Working Class Dreamer Stanza drops off another Broadcast from Georgia, taking on some of the hot topics in the news. While sometimes Jimmy Fallon slow jams the news, the ATL emcee speeds it up a bit through rhyme. The new verse is about Kim Kardashian's divorce, Herman Cain's sexual harassment accusations, and the story of the senior citizen terrorist. Satire at it's finest. Chea!

Track of the Week 10/1/10: Quantum Suicide "Revolver"

It's been a few weeks since we posted a track for the track of the week. Now we're back with this dope cut from Quantum Suicide (Stanza x Strange Republik) off their latest project, Momentum EP. When I downloaded this project a day ago, this track just jumped out at me and has been in a steady repeat cycle being played over and over again. It's a dope track. So, enjoy "Revolver," the track of the week.

Download ... @iamstanza "Searching for Bobby Fischer"

I knew I was going to like Searching for Bobby Fischer before the first track played. I had been following Stanza's singles leading to the full release of this project. The ATL based emcee delivers lyrically with some fine production from DJ Toomp, Young Guru, DJ Teknology and a few industry beats.

Pay attention to Stanza. He keeps it fresh but doesn't dumb his music down. You gotta respect that. The dude is dope and Searching for Bobby Fischer shows just why you should pay attention. I kinda wish it wasn't so many tracks but hey they're all pretty dope, so I'll deal (haha). Check it.
The Searching for Bobby Fischer project was birthed from an observation of greatness. When greatness disappears, the witnesses of that greatness long for its return. Like Bobby Fischer for instance. He was arguably the greatest chess player in history and when he disappeared, the world hungered for his return. Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Pac, B.I.G,  and countless others were examples of this. They all chose not to settle for the one square, one directional movements and instead, decided to promote to something greater. The funny thing is we all have the potential to be as good, if not better than all of them. But we’re too busy being pawns. This is my pursuit of greatness. “Time to promote.”

Check out my favorite cut, "Work Relationships"

Stanza Speaks With The Mad Bloggers

I reached out to Stanza and his folks to get a little bit of insight on the artist that I feel will be going places. Check it out.

How old are you?
I consider my age to be infinity. To explain that - Music never has to age…it’s timeless. Stanza makes music therefore he is infinite.

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I was born & raised in College Park, Georgia.

How did you come up with your name?
Well, I came upon my name studying literary terms. Stanza means a unit within a larger poem; parts of a whole. I applied that definition to explain myself. So, the explanation goes as such – to see things as I, The Unit does, my larger poem would be you, the people.

How long have you been doing music?
I don’t really measure my music career in time, I measure it in accomplishments. So, by accomplishments I’d say I’m fairly young.

Is music your career or do you have a "day job"?
Seeing that I work a job to support my music; music is my career.

How would you describe your music? Genre?
It’s funny that you ask that question. Recently I read in another review about me, DJ Voodoo said that “Stanza is like Talib Kweli meets Lupe Fiasco, with Kanye’s confidence and Jay-Z’s flow.” Now that’s a pretty heavy description, but I didn’t say it…he did. Lol!

Where do you want to see your music go?
I guess eventually I want my music to have no boundaries. I’d like for everybody who listens to it to understand it.

Who are your musical influences?
My family. Portis Head, Strange Republik, Outkast, UGK, Sade, Anita Baker; they vary and I could go on for days.

In your opinion, what's the state of music?
Urban (Rap, Hip Hop) music is in purgatory right now. It could go to a good place or a bad place but right now it depends on the people, the fans, who are the most important part of the music business.

Who do you work with on your music?
DJ Teknology, Young Guru, The DS Brothers, SMKA, Rob Phas, J. Skills, and The Varsity Squad – just to name a few.

What's the hardest thing you're finding out that has to do with your music?
Having a solid plan to promote. Everything ties into promotions. Whether promoting to the people in the industry or the listeners (fans), at the end of the day they are all people.

What's your favorite part of doing your music?
My favorite part is having total control and the ability to create whatever I want to. Not allowing myself to be limited by other people or industry standards.

What projects have you done so far? What projects are you currently working on? (Where can fans get it?)
The current project we just released is I am Stanza: The Anthology (which is a collection of my work). Fans can get that at www.iamstanza.com.

How is your experience with 106 & Park working out for your career?
The 106 & Park experience was a stepping stone. It did great for the time but there is always the next day. So, we are continuing to work.

Do you use the internet and social networking sites to push your music? And if so, how? Has it helped?
Yes I do and I feel that it has helped a lot. I can’t explain the how; it happened through research, testing, a lot of trail & error. So for anyone that wants to RESEARCH it and test to see if it works for them, I suggest they do so.
