SoulStice "That Thang", from the movie soundtrack for "The Blind Side"

Huge shout out to the homie SoulStice for having his track "That Thang" chosen for the movie soundtrack for "The Blind Side". Dope. Congratulations.
"After releasing North By Northwest (2005) and Dead Letter Perfect in 2007 (which have led to features on SoulStice in XXL Magazine, The Source, Urb, various other key urban publications and websites), SoulStice returned in 2009 with Beyond Borders, an “international concept album” featuring beats crafted by Belgian producer SBe and vocal collaborations with G.L.C., Kev Brown, Zap Mama, Oddisee and Supastition and included blog favorites “Chi Worldwide Remix” f/G.L.C. & Naledge (Kidz In The Hall) and the controversial “Strange Kind of Love.”

With the promotion of the upcoming Warner Brothers biopic “The Blind Side” in full-gear, SoulStice has been chosen for inclusion on the soundtrack with his new song “That Thang,” a track crafted by SoulStice and producer Mighty Wyte specifically for the movie.

For an indie artist to be selected to create a track for a major Hollywood studio picture is a weighty endorsement and one that forced SoulStice out of his creative comfort zone, giving him a chance to demonstrate his versatility as an artist. The opportunity and honor was not lost on SoulStice as he states "As an independent artist, placing a song in a Major Motion picture is a big deal. It's a co-sign from a major Hollywood studio - a sign that we're doing something right. This particular song is an artistic achievement for me because I'm portraying a character with a lifestyle that's not necessarily my own. That's nothing new for hip-hop, unfortunately, but it is new for me. I'm glad I was able to help give the movie what it needed.”

Check It ... SoulStice "Strange Kinda Love"

Peep this track from the homie SoulStice, Strange Kinda Love. This track is straight real talk! I applaud him for putting this track out and taking a not so "safe" stance as a hip-hop artist.

"As a Black man in America that's also part of an interracial marriage, I've experienced my share of prejudice and bigotry. We've come far on issues of race, but still have a ways to go. However, at this stage in the game, I feel like we've got even farther to go on issues relating to same-sex relationships and marriages. Love is love...we should have gotten that, if nothing else, from the musical legacies of artists like Michael and Stevie. It's not a "safe" move for a hip hop artist to show this kind of support for the GLBT community. But as an artist, I feel like it's my job to challenge the status quo, not just play into it or step around it. To me, being revolutionary means fighting not just for you and yours but for any community suffering injustice." - SoulStice

Tuesday Music Release: SoulStice & SBe "Beyond Borders"

Caught the advance copy of Beyond Borders from SoulStice & SBe yesterday from their people and I can tell you that you want to get this joint ASAP! The beats knock. The lyrics are on point. And there are a lot of features, including G.L.C., Oddisee, Kev Brown, Supastition, Eternia and more -- who all compliment the project well!

In the press release, SoulStice explains “the project is a collaboration between myself and Belgian beatmaker, SBe, who provides all of the instrumental music for the album. As far as the vocals, the songs are collaborations between myself and many of my favorite artists from around the world. We've got artists from the US, UK, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Africa, and Canada."

This is dope music! Get it and support it! Album available on iTunes
