What I'm Watching: Shane Eli "When We Were Kings"
With an email subject that reads, "Fuck Valentine's Day", Shane Eli caught my attention. So, in the midst of all these Valentine's Day projects, the L.A. artist/producer releases the visuals for the heavy and heartfelt When We Were Kings track off his I Can Do Better project. I dig it. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!

Shane Eli "Who's Laughing Now?"
I dig Shane Eli's work. The rapper/producer puts out quality music. Here is his latest featured on Puma x DJBooth Uncontested project. Another solid offering.
"I only started releasing music a little over a year ago, so having a song chosen for a project like DJBooth.net and Puma's album - alongside Emilio Rojas, Freeway, Laws and some of the dopest artists around - is definitely an honor. There are a lot of people who told me to give up and stop making music; "Who's Laughing Now?""

Shane Eli "Better Beats: The ICDB Instrumentals"
Shane Eli's I Can Do Better is a dope project, containing some amazing music from Eli from both a production and lyrical standpoint. Today, with the help of the good folks over at DJBooth.net, Shane Eli returns with the beats from the self-produced album. Dope.
"As an added bonus, the next two listeners to name ten samples from I Can Do Better will win a brand new watch from Flud. For more details click here."
Good luck. And enjoy the music. Chea!

Shane Eli "Have Mercy"
Shane Eli's recent I Can Do Better is a dope project. I remember being hyped with the singles leading up to the release and playing the project on and off for the weeks following it's release. Then The Smoking Section featured the latest single, "Have Mercy" and it reminded me of how much I loved this project from the L.A. producer/rapper/songwriter. Every now and again I hear a track that makes me visualize a video in my head. "Have Mercy" is one of those tracks. Shot in black and white, I see an old diner, the back of a cab, school bus and church shots. But that's just my imagination running wild. Ha! Anyway, enjoy "Have Mercy." Chea!
"With original artwork inspired by legendary photographer Roy DeCarava, "Have Mercy" is a cinematic tale that demands a close listen."

Shane Eli "I Can Do Better"
I've been rocking to this Shane Eli project for a few days and then it dawned on me that I hadn't posted it up. Oops. Ha!
Shane has been featured on the blog a few times with his work, as well as a features with other TMB favorites. His new project, I Can Do Better is dope. Having heard a few of the tracks prior to it's release I knew the project would be quality. Ya'll know I don't usually endorse projects over 15 tracks but Shane's 19 (which includes a few intros) on I Can Do Better is worth the listen.
Jump over to DJBooth.net, preview the project and if you dig it, download it. Below is one of my favorite cuts, "Guillotine." Enjoy. Chea!

Shane Eli feat. Playboy Tre & Rittz "Let's Ride"
Word is the homie Shane Eli's new album hosted by DJ Skee and presented by Flud Watches I Can Do Better has been pushed back a little bit. But don't you fret, he's dropped a new cut from the project dropping via DJBooth.net sooner than later. "Let's Ride" is another quality track in a long line of quality tracks off the upcoming project. I'm definitely looking forward to it. In the meantime, allow "Let's Ride" to hold you over until the project drops. Enjoy. Chea!

Check It (3/31/11): Music From Shane Eli, Blitz The Ambassador, G-Eazy and B.I.C.
So, it's Thursday. What are you listening to?
Here are a few joints I've received via email or bumped into on the Internets. This Thursday's offering comes from Shane Eli, Blitz The Ambassador, G-Eazy and B.I.C. . Enjoy. Chea!
The homie Shane Eli really delivers on his newest track, "The Night is Young", off his I Can Do Better project dropping soon. Jason Caesar provides the vocals on this smooth track that is being called "a bedroom burner." Ha! Definitely a dope track. Salute to the brother Shane Eli.
I really hope folks aren't still sleeping on Blitz The Ambassador. He's an incredible emcee, with bars and so much raw talent. Yesterday he released this fresh track, "Dear Africa", featuring Les Nubians. A dope and fresh track from the Ghana-born-New-York-based Blitz. He's currently working on Native Sun, due out in May. In the meantime, enjoy "Dear Africa."
I really fucks with this G-Eazy "Outta Pocket" joint featuring Chippy Nonstop. I have to thank Chad over at DonutsandMilk.com for putting me on to this joint. This track is from G-Eazy's The Outsider project.
This is more of a laid back track from my high energy brothers B.I.C. There's so much potential from these young guys who rocked at our last Independent's Day Showcase. This track is off producer Chuk's new tape Concord (Hadji: The Beat Konstructa). Enjoy.

Check It ... Shane Eli "When We Were Kings"
Gotdamn!!!!!! When the beat dropped and Shane Eli started to rhyme over this killer beat my head started to immediately nod. This track is so damn serious. Serious in the sense of rhyme and content. "When We Were Kings" is the third release off Shane's upcoming I Can Do Better project. I gotta thank Nathan over at RefinedHype/DJBooth for putting this joint in my inbox. This joint is definitely a winner. If you aren't rocking with this track, I'm not sure if there's hope for you musically. Ha! Enjoy. Chea!

Check It ... Shane Eli "I Love You (Kinda)"
Now this is my type of post-Valentine's Day type of track. Shit, it's my pre-Valentine's Day type of track too! Ha! Shane Eli drops off "I Love You (Kinda)" as the second track of his upcoming I Can Do Better project. I definitely dig this cut.
The homie Nathan over at DJBooth/RefinedHype sums the track up well with:
"Now that all that romantic Valentine's nonsense is out of the way, it's back to the time honored tradition of saying whatever it takes to get a girl to go home with you. A blistering soul cut produced by the man himself, "I Love You (Kinda)" is Shane Eli's ode to joys of casual sex. It's not a one-night stand if you're laying down."Enjoy. Chea!

Check It ... Shane Eli "Bo Jackson"
I caught this new Shane Eli track from the homie Nathan over at RefinedHype / DJBooth. Ya'll remember Bo Jackson? That dude was a beast. And what better way to sum up that you do it all? Reference Bo Jackson. Ha!
"Bo Jackson" is the first official preview off of Shane's upcoming I Can Do Better project dropping on DJBooth in March. I definitely dig this track. Hit play. Enjoy. Chea!

Check It ... Shane Eli "Who Am I" Feat. Ezekiel Sugarwater
Pretty fresh track from Shane Eli featuring Ezekiel Sugarwater. I caught this track from Nathan over at DJBooth.net. Check out the back story from Shane and enjoy the track. Chea!
"I was driving through Alabama one hot summer when I wandered into a small town bar. In the back of this dusty bar was a man singing along to the jukebox with an extraordinary voice. He told me his name was Ezekiel Sugarwater, and in that moment I knew I had to get him on a track. 'Who Am I' is that track." - Shane Eli

What I'm Watching ... @Shane_Eli - "Grey Area"
Real chill track. Check it.

The “Grey Area” Music Video is for the first single off of Los Angeles artist/producer Shane Eli‘s debut album, The Push hosted by DJBooth.net. Deeply personal, the video is a reflection on Shane's single parent upbringing and his personal experiences including his conflicted relationship with race and his frustration towards the father who abandoned him. The song is a hopeful one, ultimately expressing his determination to transcend all labels that have been placed upon him. Directed by David A. Wong.
*Shane Eli will be opening for J. Cole in Los Angeles at the Key Club this Saturday, November 20th, 2010*

Check It ... Jeff Spec - "Mic Bully featuring Shane Eli"
Here's another joint by Jeff Spec with Mic Bully. And this time, he enlisted the work of Shane Eli to come through and do what they do best. I thought his 11 track "Sneakerboxxx" was pretty dope for someone who just happen to hit me up out the blue on Twitter. If you liked that, you'll feel the same about this track.
