Interview: Miss Special x sene
The move from West to East hasn't slowed Miss Special down. Peep her latest interview with sene. Enjoy.
We tend to identify musicians by their location, yet when they move, we sometimes associate them with the wrong place. After moving to Los Angeles from Brooklyn for five years, Sene experienced this confusion and says it was part of the inspiration for his latest release "Brooklyknight". "I would always read things like 'the West Coast artist' or 'the Los Angeles native'... so not only to remind people where I'm from but to let them know where the mind state was, where I'm coming from, and what influences what I'm saying.. People were saying that New York fell off so it kinda became this joke like 'okay let's see if you're the knight in shining armor."(via @MiSS1SPECiAL)
Despite returning home and fully establishing himself as a New Yorker, he does have plans of working with the California, by way of Texas emcee; Chuuwee. In addition he mentions working with the talented emcees New York has to offer, including a collective effort from himself with Soul Khan, YC The Cynic, and ScienZe. This of course following ScienZe's newest project produced entirely by Sene and Sly5thAve. When asked if a project is stemming from the track "Young Leaders" with Blu and ANTHM he replied, "if there is a project in the works, that's not on it."
He also spoke about not reading blogs, being a former childhood model, and working on both Pace Rivers and Denitia Odigie's upcoming projects.

What I'm Watching: Sene "brooklyknight"
This joint reminds me of Clint Eastwood's Half Time in America ad during the Super Bowl. It's like the native son returns to champion the cause for Hip-Hop. Brooklyn's Sene is preparing to drop his new project brooklyknight, due out April 24th. The album will feature Blu, Co$$, Scienze, Jay Jennings and others, with production from J57, Fonetik Simbol, No Games and more. The video provides the backdrop and inspiration for the new project. Can't wait. It's half time in Hip-Hop. Are you ready for the next half? Chea!

Download ... recess "recess ep"
There's really not much better than the sound of a live band rocking beats with a fresh front man killing it. That's what you get on the self titled ep from recess (sene + the clubhouse).
The nine track ep is filled with some really fresh cuts, that plays off of a bit of alternative rock, jazz and Hip-Hop. With features from Blu, Fresh Daily, Donwill (of Tanya Morgan) and Nicholas Ryan Grant, recess delivers enough sound for an LP. But what recess does with their ep, just over 30 minutes, is get you ready for more music from the crew. And now you want more.
"au revoir", "love in the streets of bklyn", "emperor strikes back" and "the gentleman" are among my favorite cuts. This is a very enjoyable project. I dig it. I hope you enjoy it too. Chea!
