Interview: Miss Special x Rapsody
Miss Special chops it up with North Carolina's very own Rapsody just after the release of her The Idea Of Beautiful. Another fresh interview. Enjoy.
Just two days after releasing her debut album "The Idea Of Beautiful", Rapsody calls into Special Sundays Radio Show to tell Miss Special about some of the tracks and her upcoming projects.(via @MiSS1SPECiAL)
She spoke about working with Big Rube on "Motivation", as well as the decision to make the letter to Jay-Z inspired "Destiny". Rapsody also spoke about the surprise freestyle from Buckshot of Black Moon. Her track "Good Ol' Love" not only features BJ The Chicago Kid, but Rapsody's own mother. Rapsody also tells about deciding to go to South Africa for the making of her latest video "Kind Of Love". As for the rest of the year, in addition to more videos and touring, Rapsody plans to release four EP's including ones with Eric G and Oh No. Of course she will also be included on Kooley High's debut album exclusively produced by 9th Wonder at the top of 2013.

NEW RELEASES: RapSody, Chuuwee and Oncue
Three dope projects from folks I fux with that dropped in the last day. My favorite tracks are below. If you dig em, check the full projects. Chea!
RapSody - For Everything
First up is RapSody's For Everything, becoming the third full length free project released by the North Carolina emcee in less than a year. Featuring production from 9th Wonder and the Soul Council, she delivers up 14 cuts with features from Freeway, Kendrick Lamar and GQ. Among my favorite cuts are The Woman's Work (with its killer Maxwell sample), Live It Up and A Cold Winter featuring Freeway. Solid project.A Cold Winter

Chuuwee - Watching The Throne
Chuuwee is one of the most consistent indie emcees on the scene, representing Sacramento. With a few projects and features under his belt, he's got his target set on the throne and he makes the bold statement with his latest project Watching The Throne. A majority of the project is laced with beats from Canadian producer ENG and features some solid verses from Sean Boog, Keno, Haz Solo and others. Among my favorite cuts King Louie, The Dungeon, Absolute Monarchy and Posse Up. Solid project.Absolute Monarchy
Stream/Download
OnCue - Can't Wait
It was really getting to the point that folks couldn't wait for OnCue's latest, Can't Wait. And here it is. Featuring production from long time collaborator CJ Luzi, Cuey continues to explore and develop his sound. The NYC emcee by way of CT has been creating a buzz for the new project with some solid singles and fresh videos leading up to the release. Among my favorite cuts is The Geoffrey, Kinda Late, Only Thing We Know and Cigarettes and Perfume. Solid Project.Cigarettes and Perfume

What I'm Watching: Rapsody "Lampin"
RAPSODY - LAMPIN' from Pricefilms on Vimeo.
I think North Carolina's Rapsody is talented. She's hit the internet in the last year or so with tons of free quality music (and often times better than many paid projects), with some great production and an amazing cast of features over various projects. The girl can spit. From her Thank H.E.R. Now project she releases the visuals for Lampin'. A solid track in a long line of solid tracks. Hit play and enjoy a cool video with Kenneth Price behind the lens. Chea!

INSIDE THE MUSIC: Rapsody "Thank H.E.R. Now"
Last week North Carolina's own and Jamla's first lady Rapsody released a pretty impressive project. Through DJBooth.net she dropped Thank H.E.R. Now for the generous price of free.99. You almost feel guilty getting it for free. So, maybe you should be thanking her now and later.
But as Rapsody explains, it's about more than just the money. It's ultimately about the music. Wow, what a nobel idea. I've been a fan of her music since her days with Kooley High. She's a pretty dope emcee and her latest is just another example of the quality she's putting out there.
After the release of the new project I reached out to her for a Q&A. We talked about being a female emcee, the music and more. Check it out after the jump.

Download ... Rapsody "Return of the B-Girl"
You know how many times a week I hear, "there aren't any female emcees"? Yeah, those folks ONLY watch BET and listen to the radio. There are plenty of quality emcees, who just happen to be women. And they are dope too. It's a matter of looking and listening and having an open mind. Rapsody, of Kooley High, is a quality emcee, regardless of gender. She's fresh. And you should pay attention to her. Peep her new project Return of the B-Girl, presented by Its a Wonderful World Music Group. Listen. Enjoy. Chea!

Folks are always saying to me where are the dope female emcees in Hip-Hop and time and time again, I'm able to point them to many. Rapsody of Kooley High is just one example of a fresh female emcee doing her thing. The first leak off her upcoming project is this smooth jawn, U Sparklin’. It has a real cool vibe to it. I dig it. And you should definitely check it out. Hit up the comment section with your thoughts. Chea!
