With Kenneth Price behind the lens, Phonte drops off the Carlitta Durand featured Gonna Be A Beautiful Night off of his Charity Starts at Home album. Enjoy the music. Chea!
At midnight Phonte dropped the video for "The Life of Kings", a song off his 2011 release "Charity Starts at Home." The video features Evidence and Big K.R.I.T. One of my favorite songs off the album. Check it out. It's dope.
A lot of videos have been put out recently. Dope videos to dope tracks. Phonte releases "The Good Fight" and coincidentally, after I've been talking about my job. Who doesn't complain about their job, right?! The struggle between doing what makes you happy and what pays your bills seems to be never ending but if we can get a job that does both, we'd hit the jackpot. Love how this track was directed in this video. I know most can definitely relate to it. Check it.
Woooooooooooooo! This dude released a video for one of my favorite tracks off "Charity Starts At Home". I really hope you got this album, especially if you talk about wanting some dope Hip-Hop music. Definitely get it if you don't got it but for now, turn your volume up and bang this video till then.
Produced by Swiff D / Directed by Kenneth Price
Off 'Charity Starts At Home' out now on +FE Music.
The girl is a hard worker. You can't deny that. Miss Special aka Miss Interview chops it up with Phonte. Another fresh interview. Enjoy. Chea!
Last week on Special Sundays Radio Show, Phonte called in to talk about his solo album "Charity Starts At Home". We spoke about what the album meant to him, why now was the time for it, what praise meant the most to him and his favorite track. We also spoke about why he shouted out Fashawn on "Everything Is Falling Down", a video for "The Good Fight" as well as videos for every other track on the album, what's next for him including the tour with 9th Wonder, scoring an independent film with Nicolay called "The Last Fall" and his favorite song on 9th Wonder's "The Wonder Years".
A best of Phonte mixtape?! Woooooooooord?!?! I'm a fan of this dude. For some years now. Definitely my kind of Hip-Hop. And addition to this dope MC, we have DJ Flash putting in work on this. He ain't no press play type DJ. He's a DJ's DJ. Anyways.......enough talking. Do me and yourself a favor and click "DOWNLOAD".
A lot of folks (myself included) have been waiting for a solo project from Phonte and on September 27th the Little Brother and Foreign Exchange member will serve up Charity Starts at Home. Not Here Anymore is his first offering from the project with 9th Wonder on production and Elzhi on the feature. Definitely a solid track. Hit play and enjoy. Chea!
A lot of struggles being rapped about here in this new video by Pharoahe Monch with the help of Styles P and Phonte of Little Brother and Foreign Exchange on the hook. Definitely would like to see more positivity in the world similar to what they showing you in here. Check it.
Pharoahe Monch's new album W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) out now http://bit.ly/fnNzj1. Directed by Terrance Nance.
"A generation overly obsessed with mobsters / our revolutionaries more Grammys and Oscars / imposters...fake auras and weak Chakras / making a mockery of the music to be pop stars..." - Pharoahe Monch
New video by The Foreign Exchange. Seems like every time they come out with a video, I have to go back to the cd, hit play and repeat.
I don’t know where I should be!
This game we play is killing me.
She’s all that I could dream,
But she tears me apart.
She wants me to feel her need,
She begs for authenticity,
You don’t want truth from me,
You just want what you want!
I don't even really have a lot of words for this. Dude is dope. The song I'm going to post is a collab with Carlitta Durand (a TMB favorite) and Phonte (another TMB favorite). I came across this song during my usual perusing. There are so many songs on his page that I love. In addition to "Say How You Feel," I'm a big fan of "Be Your Man" and "Greater Than The Sun." What's so impressive about "Greater Than The Sun" is the intro. I generally don't like elongated intros but you can't help but listen to this one because it just oozes talent.
His vibe is so mellow and laid back. Just feel good. Check him out here: Reverb Nation
Here's a cool song and video from YahZarah featuring Phontigallo of her album "The Ballad of Purple St. James". Real smooth feeling on this. She's got a chill voice that can become very addictive to the ears while Phonte lyrically holds it down on the mic as usual.
Check the new video from Rhymefest "Say Wassup" featuring Phonte. It's a fresh video and concept, however I'm a little tired of the 3D thing. Actually, really tired of it. 3D is to film, what autotune is to music (read: overused). This track is off Rhymefest's sophomore album "El Che", which drops June 8. Check it and enjoy, sans the 3D glasses, unless you have the Avatar joints laying around (which you probably do).
Apathy is probably the most known emcee out of Connecticut. We've featured him on the blog a few times, including video from his recent live show at Toad's Place, tracks from his new album and features with other artists. The dude is dope. He's been dope. And at this rate, will always be dope. We definitely had to give Apathy a solo shout out on the Connecticut installment of our Journey to Hip-Hop series. This track, "True Love" featuring Phonte is off Apathy's sophomore LP, "Wanna Snuggle?" released late last year. The full project is dope too. Check Apathy out, if you haven't already.
