Six months ago with an unused beat from Moteleola this whole journey begin. The beat had been kicking around and then a lightbulb went off above my head and for the last six months I've been piecing this whole thing together. He reached out to maticulous for the beat, add DJ Just Nine on the cuts and you have a solid record in What I'm Told. As I come out of my winter slumber, I'm happy to bring you this dope track. BEAT TAPES: maticulous "mello instros" x Rufio "Rappers Jst Rap Onit"

I was just on a rant about beats on twitter. Far too many up and coming rappers grab industry beats over fresh original joints. Stop that. Sure, it's cool every now and again but hearing fifty-leven rappers rhyme over Otis, A Milli, Power, Marvin's Room, et al gets annoying really quick. How about a little bit of originality? Listening to these fresh original beat tapes is a great resource for emcees and a cool place to just enjoy quality music for casual music lovers. maticulous "the maticulous EP" x marink "I Never Finish What I Star EP"

 

The homie J57 put me on to both of these fresh projects. One for the free.99 and the other for a very low price that you can't beat. Shiiiiiit.

In the maticulous EP you get great production with lyrical contributions from RA the Rugged Man, Reef the Lost Cauze, Ruste Juxx, Soul Khan and more. With marink's I Never Finish What I Star, it's very minimal on the features with the exception of the intro track featuring Atari Blitzkrieg but delivers nonetheless with its solid production.

Both projects are quality and definitely deserve your attention.  So pay attention mickey-frickie! Ha! Enjoy.
