What I'm Watching: DTMD - "Raw" (feat. Godly MC, Kev Brown)

Off their debut album "Makin' Dollas" that dropped late in 2011 on Mello Music Group, DTMD drops the visuals to one of their favorite tracks. "Raw" is a dope ass track. Production is sick and Toine show and proves on the mic with no effort. Godly MC and Kev Brown comes through on the track and both don't disappoint. Check it.

DTMD - "Untitled" feat. ODDISEE

I really have a hard time finding anything with Oddisee on it that I can't bump. This track featuring the young and talented Dunc & Toine rides the same sonic satisfaction and the album overall doesn't disappoint. With a line like "...I'm sewn from the seeds of legendary emcees...see? We the same breed / I remain me...cold enough to give a brain freeze...", if you like listening to lyrics, you'll enjoy this album. But for now, enjoy this track.

DTMD is busy making a couple videos for their recent album release but thought they'd remind everyone of just how dope their album is with this track featuring close friend Oddisee. It's also that time when people start making year end lists, so the 22 year olds, Dunc & Toine, wanted to offer a contender for Best Debut Album 2011: DTMD - Makin' Dollas.

Boog Brown "UPS" (Dunc of DTMD Redux)

Boog Brown is gearing up for The Brown Study Remixes due out December 20th on cd and digitally via Mello Music Group. The project will include remixes from producers Georgia Anne Muldrow, 14KT, as well as some new music from Apollo Brown. With the first single, she teams up with Maryland beat maker Dunc of DTMD. The News:DTMD (Dunc & Toine Makin' Dollas) has officially released their debut album!  To celebrate the exclusive early itunes release, DTMD is giving away the title track "Makin' Dollas".  The new album features DMV representers Kev Brown, Oddisee, Drew Kid, yU, Quartermaine, and Godly MC.

About the Song:

The title track, Makin' Dollas, kicks off with Toine announcing his intentions: "The syntax is stress relief, in other words, if we speaking candidly, I be spittin' for the sanity, not really for the vanity."  This style of articulate, sharp wordplay infuses Dunc's production with the kind of wise, intelligent raps that make listeners hit rewind.  The beat itself is a working man's boom bap replete with lush guitar and vinyl scratches.

About the Album:

Dunc’s rich, full-bodied production serves as a natural backdrop to Toine’s technically astute rhymes, layered deep with smooth instrumentation evocative of such luminaries as J. Dilla, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Pete Rock, each of whom shaped the classic hip hop sounds of Dunc’s childhood. Toine’s energy and bright delivery belie wisdom beyond his years, inspiring deep reflection as easily as sharp battle fare and complex rhyme schemes. Maintaining a close working relationship with PG neighbor Oddisee and assuming a strong presence in the collective atmosphere of the DMV’s hip hop scene, DTMD appeared separately on MMG’s “Helpless Dreamer” compilation, Toine rhyming on “Different Now” and Dunc producing Stik Figa’s “From the Top.” Now the debut album Makin' Dollas hits itunes for an early pre-release exclusive today September 20th!  The CD release is next tuesday September 27th with a vinyl edition coming down the road.

DTMD are back on the blog with a new joint called "Keep On" featuring yU. It's off their upcoming release in September Mello Music Group debut album Makin' Dollas. I've been a fan of these two since I found out about them through their relationship with Oddisee, if I remember correctly. Haha. This joint got my head noddin'. Damn!

What I'm Watching ... DTMD - "A Loan For The Lonely"

"...and I can't hate / cause they appeal to a whole 'nother ear my message don't even translate / why worry about another man's fate / when I'm trying to get my piece of the pie and make my own plate."
