MC Lyte - "Dear John" feat. Common & 10Beats (produced by Loudbox)

After 11 years since her last album, MC Lyte is back and with the help of Common, she drops a new single that sheds light on the uplifting that's needed in the community. Check it.

"Dear John" is the anthem for #EducateOURMen, which is the signature scholarship initiative of MC Lyte's Hip Hop Sisters Foundation, which has presented two $100,000 university scholarships during the Soul Train Music Awards Red Carpet Pre-Show each year since the organization's founding. This year, the foundation will present dozens of scholarships earmarked to send men of color to HBCU's. Russell Simmons, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jada Pinkett Smith and Faith Evans are just of the few celebrities who support the foundation's movement (www.EducateOURMen.info).

Common "Dooint (Sauce Fonda Remix)"

In the anticipation for Common's new album, "The Dreamer, The Believer", I have taken the time to remix one of Common's singles. I was planning on doing an short EP of remixes before the actually release of "The Dreamer, The Believer", but I just don't have the time anymore. But I thought I would send this joint I knocked out today. Hope you enjoy it and thank you for listening.

What I'm Watching: Common "Sweet"

"You ain't no muthafuckin' Frank Sinatra ... little bitch... "

Someone pissed Common off and the result is Sweet. Literally. This must be that gangster rapper folks were concerned about inviting to the White House. Ha! He went off on the verses and delivers up a solid video shot in Haiti. If this doesn't get you hyped for The Dreamer/The Believer, poke holes in your speakers and throw your computer out the window. Common is asking for a $1 donation to J/P Haitian Relief Organization per view. Support. Chea!

G.O.O.D. Music's BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher

By far the best cypher from the BET Hip-Hop Awards came from G.O.O.D. music. The other joints were pretty much hit or miss. And as much as I dig and support female rappers, Diamond was fail city. Yelawolf, killed. It's a shame that Diggy murked everyone in his cypher too. Anyway, enjoy the audio for Kanye West,  Pusha T, Big Sean, CyHi Da Prynce and Common's cypher. It's a video rip obviously, but enjoy nonetheless.

#MusicMonday : Common ft Will.I.Am - "I Have A Dream"

What perfect song to select as my Music Monday song of the day than this one by the legendary mc in Common with a track even more perfectly titled "I Have a Dream"? Check out the video.

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Lets Make The Next Krush Groove

If they made Krush Groove today, who would be featured in the flick? The 1985 movie featured heavy weights like Run DMC, The Fat Boys, Kurtis Blow, New Edition, Sheila E. and so many other cameos.

Let me throw out a few heads that would be dope in the newer flick … Little Brother, The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Meth, Redman, KRS-One and Dead Prez. Maybe even feature cameos from heads like Kanye, Blu, Oddisee, Murs, Pharoahe, and Drake. I’m going to even throw Raheem DeVaughn, Alicia Keys, John Legend and Mary J. in for good measure. The cast possibilities are endless. What are your thoughts? Who would you throw in the mix?

Obviously, a classic is a classic and no need to recreate but how dope would it be to have another legendary hip-hop flick. I think we could use one. Just think of that soundtrack.

The Gladitor: Remix

Common launched this remix contest to get producers to remix Gladiator, off that Universal Mind Control album. According to his blog, Common said, “Man, we’ve been getting some cool gladiator remixes and we will select the best of the best.”

He has a few up on his blog, but this one right here is my favorite so far. This joint is produced by Skeoul, who is 20 and from South Korea according to the YouTube profile. It's a dope remix. I’m definitely feeling this one. Check out Common's blog for other remixes.

The contest continues. “Do ya’ll producers think you can come with better,” Common challenged on his blog. It can only get better.

"I poke her face"... woooooow! Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West, Common and A-Trak take Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" track to a different place. Thoughts?
