Over the last few days a gang of fresh videos from the likes of Carlitta Durand, Oddisee, Misen Lync and Aloe Blacc have hit my inbox and the Internets!
Carlitta's video comes from her dope project Nostalgic Nights released on Christmas Eve last year. If you haven't listen to that project yet, you're missing out so catch up. Ha! Oddisee also offers up a fresh video featuring Toine (of DTMD) for his "Different Now" track, featured on Mello Music Group's Helpless Dreamer compilation. As Oddisee wrote, "we shot this video just before Thanksgiving back in November, weird for me to see it as I still have braids in it. lol The video was shot in Washington, DC by Zack Schamberg." It's definitely a dope video filmed in one of my favorite places, DC.
The Misen Lync track is also an older track off of the crew's Both Sides of the Mirror project. The cut features Dame Ellzey and is definitely one of my favorite joints from the MKE group. Aloe Blacc offers up some simple visuals for "Loving You Is Killing Me." It's the simplicity of the video and the fresh dance moves that make the video so dope.
Friend of TMB Miss Special out in Cali recently had TMB favorite, songstress Carlitta Durand on her Special Sundays show. They talked about Carlitta's recent project Nostalgic Nights and more. Fresh interview. Enjoy.
Check out the new track from singer and songwriter Carlitta Durand. Written and recorded back in 2009, the track has a deeper and more personal meaning for Durand. But as she tweeted, "it also fits well with black history month and an encouraging song for black men. Hopefully someone can relate." Enjoy.
I don't even really have a lot of words for this. Dude is dope. The song I'm going to post is a collab with Carlitta Durand (a TMB favorite) and Phonte (another TMB favorite). I came across this song during my usual perusing. There are so many songs on his page that I love. In addition to "Say How You Feel," I'm a big fan of "Be Your Man" and "Greater Than The Sun." What's so impressive about "Greater Than The Sun" is the intro. I generally don't like elongated intros but you can't help but listen to this one because it just oozes talent.
His vibe is so mellow and laid back. Just feel good. Check him out here: Reverb Nation
Carlitta Durand can sing. And on Christmas Eve she delivers Nostalgic Nights, a mellow EP that may require you to grab a few glasses of wine, dim the lights and chill out by the fire place. Throw this joint on after the kids have gone to bed and relax. Or throw it on now. Enjoy.
Carlitta Durand hit me with this joint on twitter earlier. Her and Madame Sabrosa go in over the Miguel and J. Cole "All I Want is You." Yeah, they do the damn thing. Fresh. Dope. Enjoy. Chea!
Her name is Carlitta Durand, and she sings. The North Carolina songstress, while unsigned has a gang of features under her belt. With features on Little Brother, Tanya Morgan, Joe Scudda tracks, among others, she's getting her name and sound out there. Her soulful voice is unmistakable and leaves an everlasting impression on your ears.
Carlitta Durand is dope.
She's also good people. She decided to take the challenge this week. Check out how Carlitta answered five random questions, after the jump.
Check the new Carlitta Durand video for "Lost Love" off her “The Doug and Patty EP." The video is directed by Napoleon Wright II. The track and video are both fresh. Enjoy!
Previously on The Doug & Patty EP track "Lost Love," Jabee and Carlitta team up once again for another cut, this time featuring King Mez for new track "Better."
M-Phazes is hard at work producing good stuff. Chaundon dropped a new single on Bandcamp and it is definitely a banger. Growing up in the South Bronx and writing rhymes since the age of 13, Chaundon comes equipped with tough lyrics. Working on his highly anticipated album “No Excuses” due out soon, his first single “Y’all Don’t Want It featuring Carlitta Durand” is moving around the internet like a cool summer breeze. His first album “Carnage” was released 2 years ago. Aside from his own lyrical mastery, he came through with collabo’s with Little Brother, 9th Wonder, Jean Grae, and Sean Price. He has a host of mixtapes under his belt as well. Check out the single and get to know Chaundon.
I'm a little late on posting this new joint from Carlitta Durand but figured I'd post regardless. Go ahead and download this dope joint, "The Doug & Patty EP", from the songstress best known for her work with Little Brother. Enjoy.
Carlitta Durand is a classic find. I posted about her a few days ago but that was before I heard the full mixtape. Felt like I had to come back and tell you that after I did my first (second, third and forth) listen, I have to say "Carlitta's Way: The Prelude" is hot!
She is cool, fresh, upbeat and mellow. Solid vocals and real lyrics. The mixtape has that smoothed out R&B with a soulful feel and a taste of new school jazz that smacks you in the face. It's a pleasure to listen to. Your ears will thank you.
I was already feeling "What If" but that's not the only quality track on the mixtape. "Thinkin Bout Ya" is amazing. "Someone Has Your Heart" is a real honest track. And I can't even find words to describe "A New Life", but I can't stop listening to the track. There's a lot of god music packaged in Carlitta's Way.
She hits the ground running with a very soultry sound and never looks back. She is definitely not afraid to put it out there. Get the mixtape!
Thank Little Brother! You might have heard Carlitta Durand on Sirens from Little Brother off of Get Back (and a few other LB tracks). Yesterday the crew shouted her out on Twitter telling heads to email her immediately to get the new mixtape "CARLITTA'S WAY: THE PRELUDE". She has a very chill and laid back vibe. Check out What If (Click to Listen).
