What I'm Watching: Stori "Someone Like You" (An Adele Cover that's Actually Damn Good)

Folks that know me, know that I love Adele. Adele before everyone was hip to her with 21. I fucks with 19 unlike a lot of others. Her voice has always captivated me. So much passion. So much emotion. Classic soul music. And because of what Adele does vocally, I frown on covers of her tracks. Frown upon them heavily. I’ve heard a lot of Adele covers too. Frankly, most of them sound like shit. I however stumbled on this cover from Stori. Yeah, I really like this. She adds a little but doesn't take away from it. I dig that. This song always takes me somewhere else … Someone Like You is the classy version of Drake's Marvin's Room. Ha!

Andy Suzuki & The Method "Someone Like You (Cover)"

The homie Andy Suzuki and his group The Method take on Adele's "Someone Like You" in a pretty dope roof top performance in the rain. Fresh. Hit play and enjoy.

Charly and Margaux "Rolling In The Deep" (Violin and Viola SMASH-Up)

Six people disliked this video on youtube. I can't help but to think those people are haters or classically trained violinist critical of everything. Well, I'm thinking they're just haters. Ha! Charly and Margaux do their thing with Adele's Rolling In the Deep. Plus check out their Beyonce 1+1 cover below. They're both very talented and trained and have an amazing ear (ears collectively). Get cultured. Enjoy.

John Legend "Rolling In The Deep" (Adele Cover)

Personally, I haven't taken kindly to folks doing covers of Adele's "Rolling In The Deep." In my opinion what she did musically on the track was perfect. PERFECT.

I've heard a lot of covers, from amatuers to professionals and have been straight on all of them. All of them until this stripped down acappella version from John Legend. Is it better? Hell no, because Adele put her foot into "Rolling In The Deep". But what John does is dope. It would have been really fresh if John kept in Adele's background vocals or maybe added a choir to the background. Nonetheless, I dig it.

What are your thoughts?

Check It ... Adele x Jamie XX “Rolling in the Deep” (MeLo-X Remix)

Whatcha think?
MeLo-X, Jamie XX and Adele singing about her ex, there's enough X's on this track to get it banned in theatres haha.  Either way, MeLo had to jump on this remix and tell his side of the story on his relationships ups and downs.  MeLo had this joint for a minute but decided to keep it locked in the vault. Now is the time to release this gem in support of Adele's new album "21". Stay tuned for more overseas love from Malcolm MeLo Mustafa X

Check It ... Adele "Promise This" (Cheryl Cole Cover)

Adele has such a powerful voice. Just yesterday I was talking about the strength in her sound. I dig what Adele does. Anyway, I caught this track earlier today. Check out the cover of British Pop star Cheryl Cole's "Promise This." Damn, this girl can sing. 21. Chea!

As Adele’s sophomore album 21 continues to obliterate the competition in the UK, the “Rolling In The Deep” songstress is firmly marching down the promo trail to ensure a victorious chart outcome in her home country once the end of the week rolls around. Today she hit up BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where, among other tunes, she performed a somber cover of fellow Brit pop star Cheryl Cole’s 2010 hit “Promise This.”
